Nakamichi CD400 problem playing burnt cd

Hey guys I was wondering if any body had any problems with playing burned cds. I burn a new cd, throw it in the Naka and it skips like somebody took a knife and carved there name in it or it just spits it back out. Ok now get this, I take the cd out rub it on the seat a few times and bam it works.. wtf?
I bought a new cd burner awhile back so could that be the problem. I tried ashampoo cd burning software and also tried win media player and the same thing happens. Does the write speed matter when you burn a cd because I want it to burn as fast as it can. Rubbing the cd on the seat helps most of the time but damn I shouldnt have to do that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Write speed can make a difference, I've found that CD's generally worked better when burned at a slower speed. Highest speed I will burn anything at is 16x. Anything faster is just a marketing gimmick

darklegacy540 is on a distinguished road
I usually don't burn anything faster than 8x just for that reason.

MassMayhem is an unknown quantity at this point
First time you use a cd/cd-r rub a pencil eraser around the inside and outside edge. Should solve the problem. I have seen only about 3 or 4 times in the 3 years Cd-r's have been around that your problem occurs. Bizarre.
