larger battery needed for system. Need suggestions.

I currently have the stock battery in my car. I need to upgrade it so I can run my system. I currently get drops below 10V when I hit my bass hard. Some people get lights dimming when their bass hits. My lights extingush

I need suggestions on the largest size battery we can fit. I know that stinger makes a battery specificaly for hondas but I'm looking for something bigger that will still fit in the stock location.

Can anyone help. Maybe show pictures of their installed batteries?

Standars szie will fit (group 74 I think it is). I have a standard sized Optima Red Top in mine. The only thing you have to do is loosen the battery tie down all the way out, remove stock battery, remove black plastic battery cover (trash, or whatever, you won't reuse this). Put battery in, Anchored in place with stock tiedown, alternately tightening screws/wingnuts (I'm not near my car right now, so I can't remember exactly) to keep the tiedown level to top of battery. Reattached terminals, enjoyed new battery. I walked Megahurtz through this somewher here more indepth. But it fits just fine. He has pics of his DieHard Deep Cycle (I think that's what he used) on here as well. Ludlam also changed his to something larger than stock (I think it's a little larger than a standard battery too, but I'm nhot positive on that). There's probably a whole lot more that have done it as well, but those were the first few that came to mind. This has been covered a lot on here.

I was a little worried that the install was gonna be difficult also, but man it was so easy I can't even believe it.

I used an Exide 34XCD which is a group 78 size and it dropped right in. Only problem was this particular battery (I don't know about others) had some plastic things on the sides on the bottom that I just cut off, but other than that it was a snap. Major difference for the amount of work, this is a must have mod I'd recommend the same battery I have as well, it works absolutely wicked for audio systems.

these guys definitely have the right idea. I was always a fan of Die Hard starting batteries, if only for the dollar/dollar current capabilities that far surpass that of a red top, not to mention the universal warrantee to be had at any Sears store

Keep in mind that some batteries (for example my Exide 34XCD) are designed to keep up with the demand for high powered stereo systems where a "normal" battery might not do the job as well. Not that a Diehard won't help you out, but an Optima or Exide will probably do you one better.

I got an optima like 2 years ago before they made one that fits our cars better. I had to make a trip to wal-mart to make it fit but it's very secure and there's plenty of space if you get rid of the stock air box.

Update: I ordered an SVR 75-12 from Tweeter since NBT couldn't get me an exide. I'll give an update (with pictures I hope) when I get it installed.

I don't have near that space in my hybrid for a battery. The relocated the battery to the drivers side. Also I think they have an engine mount near where the regular civics battery is mounted. I was thinking of having two batteries in the engine compartment but found I couldn't use the location of a stock civic because of that. Though I do have lots of space between the firewall and the engine to put a few batteries I'll be sure to take some pictures if I do.

UPDATE:

Here are the specs of the battey I'm getting.

SVR 75-12

Voltage 12
Reserve Capacity 150
Amp Hour 75
CCA* 900
Max Amps 2650
Length 10.0"/td>
Width 6.50"
Height 8.25"/td>
Weight 55lbs
MSRP $266.00 (Tweeter sells them for $180)

I wanna relocate the battery to the trunk, but I wanna replace my stock one with an Exide group 8D. I think it's a deisel battery, 425 minutes or standby @25 amps, 1560 cranking amps, but its something like 20"x8".

Kind of. It would be nice to be able to haul around 3/4 mdf and stuff. But it realy is a nice car to drive. Some of the Plusses are it has thermostaticly controlled heat/ac so you can just set a temp and let it go. The CVT transmision is sweet too, though I think you can get this in regular civics.

It would be an awsome car if a) it had the equivilant of 150hp or so, and b) they moved the battery pack so it didn't take up trunk space and allowed the rear seats to fold down.

All in all though I love driving the car. Its nice in an automatic to be able to put 450 miles on 12 gallons of gas, especialy these days.

Sure beats the Geo Metro I had.

Optima Yellow Top

I've been using Optima Yellow top batteries for the past 5 years now and would have to say there one of the best for high powered systems.
