Noises on a brand new civic
Hey guys,
I new to this board, just picked up a brand new LX coupe on friday. I've loved it so far just a few annoying noises that ive come across, just wondering if its normal for the 04's.
- the most annoying one is when I put the drivers side window down more than half way i get a wistling type wind noise. Its rather loud and high pitched......its very annoying, does anyone get this? is this a common problem?
- second when im idleing with the a/c on i sometimes hear a groaning/viabration noise.......also when i turn on a power accesory ie. headlights, when they are switched on i can hear a quick groan coming from the engine bay, i assume thats the engine compensating for the extra load??
other than that, its been perfect *knock on wood*. I wasnt sure how i would like the car but i love it. If anyone has any idea on this issues please let me know, exp the first one. Is it better to get warranty issues checked out asap or all together when i get my first oil change?
thanks!!

Those seem pretty normal. If it's just the window squeaking, clean it with some glass cleaner. Sometimes a little dirt wound do it. The vibration with AC is the compressor turning on. Yeah it's pretty load and puts a drain on the engine.
thanks for the reply
as far as the window noise, it doesnt occur when the window is physically moving down, rather when the window is down and the wind is hitting the door area, for some reason its causing a high pitched whistling noise rather than the normal wind noise, i was just wondering if anyone else has this noise??

Oh yeah I've got that. I Can only tell on the highway when the wind is blowing through the rubber seals. Don't think you can do much about that.
I used to get the air noise on my 99 Civic. That one I had was a 4 door and for some reason the air rushing in would make that sound when it would hit the safety belt, no biggy, all I had to do was raise the window up
.
. ^^
I get the same whistling noise on my 04. I have narrowed it down to the to housing on the seat belt. With the window down air passes through the top area af the belt & whistles...if i put my hand on that piece it stops.
