I have tried Intakes and compared them to stock. The high RMP performance of an intake is great, but the low to mid range sacrafice isnt worth it. What if there was a way to acutuate a seperate opening within the stock setup to allow a higher flow of air at WOT? Perhaps a vacume solenoid attatched to a hinged opening somewhere in the airbox? Or what about a door that has enough resistance to open only at WOT when suction is greatest? The older ram air hood scoops had a solenoid that actuated door to allow the extra air in. This can be done, I know it. You'll get the best of both worlds If i remember correctly, Idle , low, midrange =higher vacume (keeps door shut). WOT no vacume ( door opens)

The RSX intake manifold already does this (in a way) - there is a solenoid which actuates to decrease the runner length at high RPMS, allowing the engine to breathe better, but allowing the low end torque to remain....
