Anyone ever change the oil in manual trans?

My 2k1 LX is nearing 98,000 miles and I want to go ahead and change the manual transmission oil. Any idea how much the stuff costs at Honda? They list a couple of types of oils which can be used in place of the Honda oil but says stiff shifting can result since they do not have the "additives" of the Honda stuff. My trans does not shift as smoothly as it used to - the reason I want to change the oil in it. Does the car need to be raised up on a lift to do it?

Well, its $3.97 a quart at my local dealer... and you're only about 70000 miles overdue. I wouldn't be surprised if you drain sludge out.
Honestly, i'd take it somewhere and have them flush the transmission casing out.

DIY: Manual Transmission Flush/Replacement

Just use honda approved MTF because it has additives your transmission needs.

Never heard that the manual trans oil needed changed at 30,000 miles? But I agree I went too long. Thanks for the links robbclark and Storm.
