Intake Air Temperture to High (code P0113)

Hey all,

Installed a K&N FIPK II on my car about a week ago without a hitch, however this moring I started getting the check engine light. Reset the ECU (yanked the fuse), which cured the problem until I gave it a little gas pulling out of my driveway. Swung by AutoZone to have the code read . . . got P0113: Input from the air temperature sensor is higher than expected for the current engine operating conditions.

The AutoZone guy suggested ordering a new IAT . . . which I did (it was cheap, and I'll make AZ eat it if it doesn't work). Should be in by Friday.

Till then, any other suggestions, or experience with this problem?

How'd you bypass it?

Oh, and thanks for the quick reply.

It's most likely the sensor. Almost everyone with a fipk has no problems. Is everything sealed up near the TB?

Yeah, I was worried about air leaks so I replaced the breather hose between the valve cover and the throttle body with a longer peice so that it'd be nice and snug. Otherwise, all the hose clamps are nice and tight.

OK, well the replacement sensor comes in in a couple of days . . . we'll see if that does the trick.

Thanks.

How do you like the FIPK?

It's cool . . . first mod I my part (my warranty just ran out . . . I have a 2001 EX sedan). Was a breeze to install,(minus my apparently broken AIT). Powerwise, I'd say you loose a little bit in the bottom end (barely noticable), but you get a nice kick over about 4000 rpm . . . there is a little more of a jerk when the VTEC kicks in now. THere is a definite difference between when my AIT was working and whe it isn't . . . a note to all of y'all driving around with your check engine light on.

Soundwise . . . stock with benefits, even quieter in some conditions (with my factory airbox I I used to get some ort of resonation in the cabin at 3000 rpm, but the FIPK is quiet throught that area.) If you are easy on the throttle, you'll never ever notice it's there, however when you open it up, it puts out a real nice growl/motorboat sound . . . real deep and mellow, not ricey and loud. This is in the cabin by the way, haven't had a chance to get someone to do a drive-by.

OK, she's fixed now . . . ended up not being the sensor . . . the crappy, skinny-*** wires that go into the plug that the AIT sensor fits in broke at some point while I was driving around. Honda doesn't sell the plug by itself, so I broke out the solder gun and rewired it myself (and added another power point inside my storage bin for my iPod). Check Engine light is gone, and my low end power is back.

Good to hear it's working for you. That's a great intake. I'd rather have a little noise if it's gonna give better power than stock.
