Arghh....
Today my boss came up and told me that it looked like someone had scratched my car in the parking lot. When I go out to see, there is a good amount of silver paint along the left rear bumper and chips of my paint had been scraped off.
Does anyone know if the bumper piece will rust? Is the bumper made out of plastic? I'm under the impression it will rust unless i do something.
My only saving grace is that it isn't too bad (it just sucks that I had nothing to do with this) AND I might have a possible culprit. The babysitter of one of our customers and semi-friend of my boss/owner drives a silver stationwagon type car that I saw pull in halfway to the spot to my left. Right after the babysitter left was when my boss happened to be going to the parking lot and saw the mark. I called the customer and left a message but still no return call.
I took some pictures but i can't resize them to upload.

Bumpers are plastic. Since plastic is completely non-ferrous (no iron) and rust is comprised of Iron Oxide, plastic cannot rust. Nothing will happen if left untouched besides it looking like ***.

^
Thanks boilermaker
Atleast I don't have to worry too much about it then. There is a little scratch on metal just above the bumper, but I'll use the clear touch up stuff I have from honda.
Hopefully it is the person I think it is, and they are willing to pay to have the paint fixed.

No luck...
On the answering machine I said I took pictures. I called them three times yesturday and they didn't pick up. And I tried again just now. The wife said they don't have a silver car, but when I asked about the babysitter and gave a description of the car I believe hit me, it was theirs.
The wife was giving me attitude the whole time while I was trying to be gracious about it (I mean, how do you accuse someone of something when they flat out deny it). What bugs me the most is that she was overly defensive.
Anyways, she looked at her bumper and said there were no marks. I apologized for calling her and she was like, "yeah, you called us like five times already." <-- yeah, so why didn't you return my call?
I'm going to see if insurance will cover it, but I don't really want them to know about it in case I don't cover it and I don't fix it = they devalue my car; if I'm gonna have to pay out pocket; or just leave it and use touch up stuff.

I have some marks on my bumper from where some a$$hole hit me and broke my taillight too. Im just leaving them because it doesnt look THAT bad, and I'm hoping for a body kit eventually.
No, plastic doesn't rust! Yes...silver is probably the cheapest of all paints, but that stuff happens. People scratched my car so much that I decided not to paint it until I can fing a POS to drive around in.
i just park far away from people... i still have a dent or two from those times when ur in a hurry and have to park close.... but its still in pretty good condition.... sorry to hear that dooode.

If it's just scratched paint, I say go get some touch up paint and some good rubbing compound and take care of it yourself. Without proof (and without somebody to bill) your insurance company will probably make you pay for most or all of it out of your own pocket because of your deductable. And you'll probably need to do more minor painting later on for rock chips and scratches anyway, so the paint is a good investment. If you talk to your insurance company, be careful because sometimes they jack up your premiums if something's happened to your car--even if it was somebody else's fault and you never filed a claim (this has happened to me--and it took a long time for them to correct their error).

Yeah, that's what i was worried about masarak. But I did talk to them and they said if i were to make a claim, my deductible would be $500.
Since everyone here says the bumper won't rust, I'm going to have to just get the touch up paint and live with it.
God i hate parking lots...
