I been runnin castrol gtx in the recomended weight. I think its 5-20 for my ex. If youcan get it in the right weight I hear kendal oil is pretty good, I would run that but I cant find it in 5-20
Super Autobacs has Kendall Fully Synthetic Motor Oil 5w-30 (no 5w-20) for $3.33 a quart.
Sold in cases of 6 only. $19.98 a case.
If Kendall oil is really that good then this would be a good deal for those wanting to switch to synthetic.
Super Autobacs also has $14.99 oil changes everyday. I get my oil changed there.
They use a generic filter with Castrol motor oil. Better than Jiffy Lube

it seem like not many peps using sysnthetic oil...... whats you guyz think? does it give you better engine response or smooth acceleration? or u think its wasted on civic engine?
sorry, i'm newbie on oil......

I use Mobil1 syn 5-30w and change every 4k. Syn vs Dino depends on engine and how you use the engine. Our old datsuns run better on dino, my civic is a tad smoother with syn. Don't expect any real noticeable difference though, maybe just slightly longer engine life way down the road.
I'm actually about to change my oil tomorrow and just came across this topic...is the Honda oil the best for our engines? it says in the manual that honda oil is preferred for the life of the engine...do u think they just say that so you'll buy their oil? if so then what would be the best oil to use in my car: 2003 LX 26,000 miles and its a daily driver and no engine mods.

I use Mobil1 or Castrol Synthethic BLEND with a BOSCH filter. No need for full synthethic on my stock engine. I change it every 5000 miles.
10W30... IMO 0W20 is too thin for California's weather. I don't want engine damage...

Synthethic/Synthethic Blends last longer... no need for 3000.
Plus I'm using a Bosch filter, not FRAM.
Recommended oil: Royal Purple,Redline, Mobil1, Castrol (All around $4-6/qt)
Recommended filters: K&N($10-12), Mobil1($10-12), Bosch($6)
Best Combination: (1) Redline w/ K&N Filter (2) Redline w/ Mobil1 filter (3) Royal Purple w/ K&N (4) Royal Purple w/ Mobil1 (5) Mobil1 w/ an filter.
All of these filter have a 98% multi-pass efficiency.

I just go to the dealer for $30 every 3k miles. They say it's just bulk "mystery" oil that they use. I don't think they know what the brand is.
Oh well cause it works just fine.
Oh well cause it works just fine. I am using Mobil One 0-20 for racing in the spring and winter.
Will put in Mobil One 5-30 for racing in the summer.
Will be using RedLine engine oil next.
Raced using Castrol GTX before.
Always Honda Filter.
Always 3,000 miles for me. Since I road race and autoX once a month. Road race sometime twice a month.

Re: oil recommended?
Recommend synthetic (I use Castrol 5W-20) and Fram Extend for synthetic oils. Brand name on oil and filter is not as important as ALWAYS using the same brand name. When you switch brand names the gunk in your engine builds-up.
If you rebuild engines (racing) you can tell a difference in staying with same brand name.
Synthetic oil has improved my gas mileage from 31 to 34/35 per gallon.
I change when the "oil life" sensor gets near 10%.
