Installing Sub and Amp?

A friend of mine just bought a 2004 Accord EX-L and wanted me to find out if it is possible or not to install subs and a amp while using to stock cd deck that came with the car?

Yes it is totally possible. Easiest way is to grab a line converter (available at Radio Shack or just about any electronics store) so you can tap into the rear speaker signals, then run RCA from that converter to the mono amp, which then runs into the sub. If you wanted to be Resourceful Smurf, you could yank the stock deck and tap into the signal there, but why trouble yourself with that?
Eventually though most people do end up getting a better deck.

my brother just installed a '12 and an amp in his 2003 I4 5 spd accord EX-L. just did it less than a month ago. If ya want any specific details lemme know, ill give you his email address so you can email him some specific questions but Telly sumarized it pretty well

One thing i dont recommend is taking out the deck. My friends dad who works at Honda told me that they scratch really easily, more easily than a civics stock deck. so dont take it out.

Also, for the power wire to get under your hood, theres a passage on the drivers side so you can pass the wire through. I know civics have it on the passenger side but on the accord its on the driver side. That should save you some time and frustration if you/your friend werent aware of that already.

If ya got any more questions post them here,pm me, or if ya want i can give you my brothers email address. good luck

I made sure when I bought my amp that it had a seperate remote gain control for the bass...which I installed in one of the blanks under the factory deck..It sounds much better..
