Lowest Drop w/ only springs?
Hey everyone. I want to drop my civic, but I only want to get springs and not have to get new cambers or any other new components. I currently have Konig 17" wheels with Khumo tires, forgot the width. Also, what would be the best brand to get? I want some springs that are a little stiffer than the stock ones. Thanks.

If you don't want neagtive camber (bare minimal) the ones to get are the Eibach ProKit nothing else. There is no "BEST" neither by the way. And SEACRH MAN!! plenty of info on this subject because it's been discussed many of times.....take a look at these.

Also most will recommend Full Replacement Coilovers.....I have sleeved coilovers.

Everyone wants to slam their cars for under $300... Sorry to be the bearer of badd news but its not going to happen. The lowest lowering springs will go about 2.25-2.5" but i dont recommend them on stock shocks. The stock shocks are so short weak that you'll bottom out. I would recommend you stick to 1.75". Any lower and your going to have to spend a good amount of cash. And as for the guy wanting to slam his car with ground controls. Great i guess i'll be hearing about how you blew your shocks within a day.

i have skunk2 coilovers... it dropped real low in the front but only like nearly 2" for rear. maybe it was meant for the younger 7thgen models since im 03? but beats me, im almost tucked...
GCs slammed on stock shocks... damm goodluck
i've never rode in a car with blown shocks. tell me more about this..

I've got Ground Control on Stock Shocks and been riding that since i picked up my 04 and my shocks are blown and im still riding strong and enjoying the ride! It's all personal preference man. Bounciness doesn't bother me one bit cause it's not really like how people are making it seem. You guys are just old

well since I don't want to spend all that money on an entire new suspension setup, I probably won't even worry about it. Ill just keep saving my money and by the time im 30, ill be able to afford that new Z71 Vette.

If your going to ride on blown shocks, why did people invent shocks then? Its really not cool when your rolling down the street and you see a hot chick driving next to you and all your doing is bouncing around. and yeah handling.. even when my shocks werent blown and i was on ground controls, handling SUCKED. on some intersections i would hear my tires chirp cause it broke traction from bouncing too much.
Why ride on blown shocks when you dont have to? I was the same way when i first started modding the car, i didnt care how badd it rode as long as i was slammed but now i consider it ghetto when i see a car bouncing non-stop after hitting a dip. Its just as badd as seeing a HUGE shopping cart wing on a car(no offense to those that have one, its just not my style
)
But yeah if you dont mind the horrible ride and risk of crashing your car go ahead. I personally dont think its worth all that just to lower your car .25 more inches(with a 2" drop on gc's i would bottom out ALL the time. if i had 2 other people in the car, forget it, i would literally bottom out on every crack on the road)

Id say get the tokicos and some tein springs, would probley cost about 550 probley less than that. I say tein because with blues anything less than 1.5" drop, ride comfort starts to suffer.
hey, i'm looking into the b+g s3 coilovers....what do you guys think about that? and any upgrades should be done w/ those????? thanks for the input..i started a thread about it in suspension forum..if you wanna post there. thanks!

Tokico has released the blues, which will be decent for some lowering. I am not sure when the Illuminas will be out, but those would be the ones you would want to get.

Even if you do ride on ground controls with tokico's you cant expect to have a nice set of shocks with some crappy springs. It just doesnt work that way. Sure the tokico's will help but it'll still be crap.

whoa whoa whoa?!?!?!! crashing the car? how would i do that......by hitting a "BUMP" hahahaha. Dude i have hit every hole imaginable and the only worse thing that has come about with that is that my speaker box moved! how would i crash?
You know what imma do guys ....imma be the crash dummy and ride on stock shocks for as long as the sweet lord will let me and if anything ever does happen you guys will be the first ones to know.
And as far as the bouncing it "REALLY" isn't how your making it seem man....besides chicks dig the drop
I always roll next to hot chicks man hahahahaha and there never like "OMG look at him bouncing around like a idiot" cause my car doesn't bounce like your making it seem...granted it does bounce when i hit bumps but on smooth surface im a okay!
Personal Preference my boy personal preference <-------------that's directed to everyone.
Also by the way if i thought it was dangerous i wouldn't do it.........besides wouldn't there be alot more people and stories about people lowering there cars on stock shocks? show me some proof? i don't want to hear a personal story i want to see creditable info? Not saying that it is safe to do but hasn't done me any harm.

Ground control is a very reputable company. Many autocrossers run custom GCs with konis. It is a good combo. GCs are the best sleeves you can get.

Of course its preference... If you dont mind a sh*tty ride, why not just go with some $50 ebay coilovers. Hell why dont you just cut your stock springs?
My whole point is why ride like that when you dont have to. You can save $150 by going with springs(rather than GCs), you wont have blown shocks, you wont be bouncing all over the place. I personally can put up with a rough ride but if i had the choice of not having to, why would i.
If ground controls are so great, tell me why its worth it to spend $150 on them. To me there's A LOT more negatives than positives

1) you can blow your shocks with springs.
2) ground controls aren't 150 dollars?
more like 325-350 dollars 3) I like to be able to adjust my ride height. Even though i could of spent Hundreds of dollars on some full replacement i don't wnat to because sleeved coilovers would do the trick for me. You have the convience of lowering and raising your car without spending alot of money. Sure blown shocks are a negative but with sleeved coilvers there are sacrifices and that's just the sacrifice you make. It's what fits for me and the things i want to do therefore that's why i got them.

1) sure you can blow your shocks with just springs but thats only like 5% of the people. 90% of the people with sleeved coils blow their shocks.
2) my badd i meant to say the extra $150 on them(since lowering springs are around $150)
3) LOL well if thats what you like... First time hearing someone say they dont mind riding on blown shocks. I dont mind sacrificing some ride comfort for a slammed car but having to ride on blown shocks and bottom out constantly is where i draw the line.. I dont know why you didnt save your money and go with some ebay coilovers than.
