Mini-me swap...
Mini-me swap...
i have a 2001 DX coupe n the stock motor. i was kickin the idea around of trying a mini me swap by putting the EX vtec head on the DX block. does anyone have this? is it worth it? and if i complete it will my catback exhaust for my DX model (Espelir JGT500R) have to b modified to fit my new headers?

It isn't worth it. You will gain 10hp and spend over 3k. You will need head, ecu, tranny, other wiring...etc. The ECU for a EX is set up differently for AC, PS, power interior, moon roof, tach, radio. It is so not worth it for 10whp.

You should be able to score a used d17a2 w/o trans for around 500. You'd prolly need to mod the downpipe and cat to fir the motor but other than that, besides some solenoids, wires, and ecu, it should be pretty drop and drive.

I know that. But the ECU will need to be modified because it is set up for all of those things. You don't need a tranny, but you won't get everything out of the head swap if you do. They are geared differently. Again, it isn't worth it in my mind.
