Need a CAM Gear that works!

So Gearbox had an issue of hitting/grinding with the AEM Cam gear when he installed the DH head, so he had to take it off. So it seems that the AEM one will dammage our car!!! Anyone been successfull using this AEM cam gear, or anyone other one?

I know Hayame makes one too, but don't know if it works or not.

It works fine. For every one elses info you have to remove the inside and outside dust cover.

That makes sense. I dunno if Gearbox wants to take it all apart again to install the cam gear. At least we know why it was rubbing.

Too much work to open it again. And I don't even think I need it anyway.

I'm selling mine for $90 shipped, used for 5 minutes on the car, some scratches, and it's silver.

When I got my car tuned last weekend, the cam gear didn't even have a effect to the tuning..Just like the first time I had it tuned before the P&P...Oh, I want to put my dyno up, but I need to go over to my friends house and use his scanner. I made 135WHP...I guess it's ok, but now I'm leaning towards a SRT-4 or Type-S

Wow, cwick187, those are awesome numbers! I know mine isn't that high after everything. That's only 5whp away from stock Si.

Yeah, those are good #'s for our cars, but it sucks that you have to dump all this money into car and only get 25whp...I think that the new car bug has bitten me anyways.

Would you mind telling us how they tuned your vafcII? Someone said it's not able to add enough fuel for the pnp. Also my idle is pretty rough. I was wondering what to do about that. Thanks!

Not yet. Still working through some problems. Car is doing way better than the first day after install. Only thing is the rough idle and some noise when turning. But otherwise engine is nice and smooth. It's an auto, so I'm not expecting much. Vafc helped a bit when I turned up the fuel.

He's got intake, exhaust, full header, vafc to control air/fuel, and a really good port and polish job on the cylinder head with angled valves for more airflow.

Yeah. Basically you make the ports bigger and polish them so more air flows in the engine. Angled valves will flow air better.

I'm trying to install my cam gear again, but it's a pain. I'm trying to figure out how the timing works now. And should I retard or advance the timing? Please help.

Well, I guess you could use a dremel. You sort of have to know what you're doing. DH racing did my head, but exospeed just started and their work is much better. I did a diy here a while back to enlarge the exhaust manifold (header) and the gasket so it would match the ports on the head. You can look for it in the forced induction forum
