i was backing up out of a parking space, and the lady driving the cab next to me decided to do the same thing, but forgetting something very important. she never looked to see that i was already in the public way, and backed up right into the rear of my car. put a dent the size of small plate next to the "H" on my trunk. chipped the tail light, and scratched up my bumper pretty bad. one of the first things she said was "i think my license might be suspended". i was like, hmm maybe this wont be so bad afterall! anyway, maine is a no fault state, so do not determine fault. it appeared to be under $1000 damage so it is not reportable. i will be bringing it to my honda dealer tomorrow to get a quote so we will see. it was very sketchy, the cab company owner showed up and kept mentioning keeping insurance out of it. it will be difficult to prove fault, no witnesses. but i offered to him that he pay for damages, if he declines, then insurance will be involved. he already told me he wont be making a calim on his POS buick taxi. it was in such a state of disrepair, i couldnt even tell there was damage done at all. anyway im rambling. nobody was hurt so i guess thats all good. hopefully it all works out in the end. my silver civic doesnt look to good with yellow accent marks on the rear

You are taking a big risk but not involving insurance but it sounds like they are willing to cooperate. Try and get the money from them ASAP so they don't get any second thoughts about it.

ohhh no i defintly called the police as soon as it happened. being a police officer myself i know the ins and outs. i wont be letting anyone pull the wool over my eyes in this one
