HP gains from AEM V2 on '02 LX
The AEM V2 Cold air is a good intake, I cant justify spending the extra cash for the v2 over the v1 on an SOHC but if you have a k20 deffinately go with the v2 its sweet. ......spend the money and you will see and feel results.

i don't have a k20 but i know that an air intake does pretty much crap. i've nevber dynoed my car but i've used a gtech before and if you don't know what that is it's somethin you can get for about $200 or more that measures your wheel hp and it's very accurate for what it is cause my friend who's dynoed his camaro used it and it was pretty much the same. well anyway like i was sayin air intakes, sri or cai aren't that great. it gave me like 2 hp. in combination with kamikaze header and a cat back exhaust i gained a total of 12 hp which sucks because i have a crappy auto lx which stock had 95.the best bang for your buck is nitrous especially on a crappy auto like mine.

^ i agree with ershall go turbo if you have standard but not if you're auto but since ya'll are talkin about v2's your more than likely drivin a 5 spd, and if you don't want to spend 3k then add 100 or 2 to the price of your intake and you can get nitrous.

what the how'd the question even get to a k20 really. heh. (yes i've read and i saw it but no one really answer the dude)
i dont have first hand experience. but some people with LX and the V2 says it works fairly well on the LX/DX...
and on AEM's site they claim wack *** gains.. like 9 hp or something.. heh. although it honestly may give some okay gains on DX/LX... u can search, but its hard with the 2 letter limitation. heh.

I'm a little unclear on why the V2 would be any better than the original. They show a nice picture on the web site of the tube connected to the head and sound waves charging the cylinder. The problem is they've left out the plenum between the CAI and the intake valve. The supercharging effect they mention happens, the problem is it only happens between the plenum and the valve. The CAI is only supplying air. It isn't setting up harmonics that charge 4 different cylinders. Perhaps the tube in a tube design reduces heat absorption???

Here we go, from the famous pulley thread...

Worth every penny!!! And since it's a short ram, i don't have to worry anymore about getting the filter wet or damaged cuz water will never get up that high.

THE INJEN was better, but this V2 rocks!!! At least on my lx it does. I think i'm getting good results from it cuz i already have header, hi flo cat and exhaust done too. If you just put this on a stock civic, it will be too much air to flow in and it prob. won't work right. I love it and highly reccomend it.
Why don't you listen to someone who actually has it on a DX...me. I have a 5 speed with the V2, OBX header, and Thermal R&D catback exhaust. When I installed the V2, there was a pretty huge gain. It has a really good sound, but when you hit about 4500 rpms it makes the biggest sucking sound Ive ever heard on an intake and you FEEL the difference. Don't listen to anyone who doesn't have it because they are ignorant and have never used it before. With my whole setup I can hang with an SI easy. I would say that AEM's dyno is right on the money when they say it gives 12 hp on the lx/dx with a stock engine/exhaust. EX owners seem to think their car is the gift from God and that anything for the lx/dx is junk.
Anotherlevel, I asked a technical question. If you want to give me a qualitative answer, that's your choice. I was hoping for something more. I don't trust anyone's butt dyno, including my own. My question stands, by what physical process does the V2 outperform the original? The web site says it's sound waves caused by the tube within a tube design. I call BS on that. You don't get harmonic boost when you have a plenum between the tube and your intake valve. I'm glad it sounds cool. I like the sound of my CAI too. However, the technical question still stands.
PS, don't call me or anyone else ignorant just because I/we haven't used it.

You're not ignorant, I just don't like it when people with ex's try to say that anything for the lx/dx wont work because nothing really seems to work for the ex. If I had a better job I would be more than happy to dyno, but until then you'll just have to take a ride with someone who has it.
I would really like to get the V2, but I havent seen any real dyno resusly other than the ones on AEM's web sight, and still they said in the faq that you only get those gaine if you alredy have you car modded out, like exaughst high flow cat, and headers.....but i read on revews that it is obnoxiously loud.
