valve cover breather question
valve cover breather question
aight i was lookin at a raceversion RSX Type-S and it has a seperate cone-style filter for the valve cover breather hole. Also, the breather filter sits way off to the right side of the engine bay and is routed to the valve cover itself via an extended version of the stock breather hose.
questions!!!
if i just pop a valve cover breather filter right on the end of the opening without tube, wil there be ANY differences than if i place the breather filter away from the engine and connect it with an extended breather hose?
i have these questions cause my friend gave me piping for free that is bent kinda to SRI style. but i dont wanna drill too many holes in the tubing (only hole im drilling is for the air sensor). so yeah... thanks

so if there is a chance that oil will spill out of that tube why the hell do ours go right in to the intake? thats just what I want in my intake. OIL. May be it will help the air flow smoother?

Personally, i think it is a bunch of
.......... but i will continue using my breather filter
would it hurt to get a seperate filter for the breather and mount the filter away from the engine and connect it via an extended hose? or would the shortest run between teh filter and valve breather hole be best? probably no gains huh?

I've been researching PCV setups.. really the only reason you'd need to remove that breather hose is when you go turbo. the length of the breather hose affects nothing. having a filter right there on the valve cover, oil may begin to drip down and make a mess around the fuel rail. My setup will probably be similar to the pic shown, only i'd have another hose leading from that to the pre-turbo intake. If you look at this diagram, you'll have an idea what I mean. Look at the image for the first setup shown.

with a stock setup, there's not much pressure building up in the crankcase. air would typically flow into the breather hose into the crankcase, then out the PCV, being sucked into the intake manifold.
rarely oil vapor may sputter out.

im probably gonna be running wihtout a filter on the valve cover breather hose and cant connect it to the intake box for like one day. im chaning my oil next week so there wont be any problems right?
