Hard pull after left turn
Hard pull after left turn
So, I've purchased a used 2001 Civic that was lowered
(apparently without a proper camber.. due to negative camber in rear).
It's sitting on 17s and I have no idea how far it was really lowered.
Now, here's the part I'm a little worried about...
After a hard left turn, it feels as if suddenyl the alignment is foobard. It'll pull hard left until I take a turn right, and then everything is back in shape.
CV Joint gone bad, or worse? What's your thoughts?

No other noticeable ride difference. Ocasionally when turning hard and moving you can hear a 'clunk' of sorts. Tis what made me think it was CV at first. Sound isn't too consistant and never hear it in normal turns.
I know that's not much help... any guesses are appreciated.
Thanks.

if your not familar with how to check your front end id take it to a good shop. But just guessing it sounds like something is lose/worn out and is shifting causing the alignment issue after the hard turn. CV joint would have to be in SEVERLY bad shape to cause a pull. Could be a bushing, ball joint, upper strut plate, lose strut bolts and about 100 other different things. Sorry but i know thats not much help but kinda hard to guess not being there

Check your tie rod. Make sure its bolted down correctly, if you want to check this your self this is what you do. Jack up one side of the car, which ever wheel is pulling, Lock your steering wheel inside the car, go to the actual wheel, and see if there is any play going left to right, Now with a good tierode it should move no more than .5 of a mm, with a bad tie rod it will move 3 to 5 mm left or right (which makes the car pull HARD to one direction), it will seem as if its loose. The way you decribe it sound like a tierod issue. It actually quite common for people to **** up the tierod during a spring install.
Roger on that. I actually had another post about how a mechanic told me it was a right mount binding, and I figured that it was actually the bearings. They wanted way too damn much money so I bought 2 new mounts and the 2 new bearing parts for the front. I'll be replacing them next week and seeing if it takes care of the memory steer problem.
As long as we're revisiting it, it wasn't the tie rod, btw. I did as described and no problems. Since then, I've done a ton of research and bought a lot of tool sin preperation for taking apart the struts to fix this.
I'm not sure I understand though, how the spring would be "jumping". If seated correctly, it shouldn't do this, right?
Anyways, I'll give an update if the new plates and bearing fix it all. If it doesn't, I'll go the expensive route and install either (A) hayames, or (B) a full new stock strut assembly on all 4 corners.
