Koni Strut does not fit , HELP ASAP
Hi Everybody, The Koni Strut does not fit. I already cut the housing and still won't go in. It went in 3 inches and then that's it. Did the distributor send me the wron one? Is it really hard to push it in that I need to bring it to a machine shop? Please help ASAP.
Thanks...
I'm having it done and the mechanic called me that it won't fit. He is asking me to take it to a machine shop tomorrow. The part number are 8641-1416 for the front and 8041-1281 for the rear, that's reading it from the invoice but i have to check the part number from the strut it self tomorrow.

Yup, its a tight fit. If you got t in three inches you probably have the right ones, its just that the little bumps on the side of the insert are tough to get in. I had this same problem, what I did was file the bumps down a really small mount then forced the insert into the housing. Its suppose to be a tight fit so it doesnt become loose later.
Hi Guys, Thanks for all the repply and suggestion. I took it to a machine chop and they tried a little bit to push it in but no go so they called me up saying they can't do it that i have to pick it up, at that time I have the other one on my car and was able to check they serial number....GUESS WHAT!! IT'S THE WRONG PART!!! They send me the wrong part. Now I have to wait for the right one it will take a couple of days but will be done maybe nextweek and won't have a car until then. Anyways thansk again, problem solved.
oh ya....you have to cut them at the 40mm mark even tho the directions say 50mm. When you measure it, it reads differently than the directions. If you cut them to 50mm the strut won't reach the bottom of the housing, which will make the bolt too short to reach the threads.

I believe the directions say 40mm not 50mm. I cut mine at 30mm. Anything less then 40mm is fine.
On the top of the Koni insert are 3 bumps even spaced around the outside that keep it secure inside the strut housing. If you cut the strut housing below the bumps on the insert, it'll be loose and bang around inside the housing making alot of noise.
