exhaust for 2004 civic ex coupe...

hi i'm new to the 01-04 civics.. and i was wondering if i could still get an exhaust for the 01-03 civic ex coupes for my 2004 civic ex coupe... because in another forum i read... a guy said his exhaust banged something, and they were also saying if you put mods on the 01-04 civic the engine rattles more or something?? and the guy said he had to get better motor mounts and after that it was fine.... help please!

Here's my explanation from what I have learned but don't quote me on this because I may be wrong.

Besides the interior, the front bumper cover, fenders, hood, and rear bumper cover, the design from the 01-04's are all the same (assuming they are all ex's) I don't see why it wouldn't fit. Although you may have a problem with the clearance on your rear bumper cover...?

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

the banging that you my be referring to is called thermal shock. When you get a bigger diameter pipe for our car there is less room for the exhaust to move. Thermal shock is when an exhaust goes from cold to hot or vise versa. This causes the metal to contract and may cause the exhaust bag the bottom of the floor board and feel like it is under the seats. It is nothing to worry about.

This thermal shock usually happen in the rain when you drive through a deep puddle and a lot of cold water is on the exhaust . When you first hear it you are like what going on with my car a freak out. However all is well.

There are a more than a few changes in the 03 to 04 years. The cat has been moved to the front of the car and is now built into the exhaust hedder. I have just bought a 04 civic protype back in dec for a new project car for my company and had to make an adaptor to fit the cat-back system now that the cat is no longer under the car. No big deal though. I simply use a SS flex joint that i use when making custom exhaust system to alow the system to move as it heats up and cools down or when the engine is under load.

As far as rattling or noise you should check fitment and clearances (both hot and cold) to make sure its not hitting anything, but a 2.5 system should have no problems. I was going to start making a limited number of adaptors but my sales reps tell me that the problem has been sloved and the 04 system will be im my shelfs soon. well the told me that @ sema in nov. and now its march 04 on second thought maybe i wil make them.

hope that this help you out. let me know if im wrong or if you need something.
