Well, my Injen is F-ed...
This is the semi-nasty e-mail I just sent them...
Hi, please click the 2 linked photos I am enclosing of the piping that has been installed in my 2002 Civic EX for about a year now. One of the pictures shows the result of the battery shroud (which is plastic) rubbing on the intake pipe, and the other shows the result of the lower frame rail rubbing on the pipe (it also ate through the rubber pad supplied with the kit). I was under the impression you guys had these kinds of fitment issues worked out, any comment regarding these? I've seen this before on 2001+ Civics, so I know I'm not alone, I'm beginning to wonder if something isn't right. I'm glad I caught it before the frame rail ate a hole in the pipe behind the filter.
Please let me know if you have a solution to this issue, $200 is a lot of money to waste on a part if 1 year is all its going to last.

I'm interested in seeing what they say. I'm under the assumption thats not supposed to happen, and given the fact that it only installs 1 way, the bends in the piping determine its orientation in the engine bay. Anyways, I await their reply, in the meantime, the stock box is going back in... and hopefully they'll replace that pipe, cuz I'm not putting that back in the car.

Ummm its saturday. If I just wrote today, I'm thinkin it'll be Monday at the earliest.
In the mean time, I'm working on finding a way to canabalize the top pipe and the filter into a cold air box similar to the Icebox.

i am not trying to say that it is your fault....but dont you think that they will tell you that it is due to improper installation....do you think that you could have done something to prevent it....hold the pipes in place and make sure that they had clearance from everything and then tighten stuff down...i am not trying to make you sound stupid, or that it is your fault..i am just askin if you think that it could have been prevented, or was there just not enough clearance for it all the way around

Boilermaker, From talking to a couple of ex CSP guys (88 CRX si) they said that the car performed better with the stock box on minus the resonator. Vs short rams or cold air intakes.... Maybe your better off.

Anyone know what type of plastic the air box is made out of? Somekind of nylon or something?

Well, honestly, I don't care if they replace it. Its just gonna happen again. So rather than keep calling them every year (they're probably going to be pains in the asses about it anyways because they'll be little bitches and not stand behind what they make, I've already mocked-up, test fitted and blueprinted a new airbox. Polycarbonate sheeting is on the way, so when it gets here tomorrow, I'm starting on my own intake system. In theory it should work better since the filter will be in a resonator box, protected from the elements and most importantly, completely eliminating the possiblilty of hydrolock (I was never superworried, but extra insurance is good).
Hmmm...yeah...I'm finding that I need to be at about 4k to get any kind of power out of my AEM CAI...so if you find a good way to mod yours with a box...I'd be interested in knowing how you did it...(read WE NEED DIY!!).
I'm tired of down shifting to 1st only to redline it, hit the limiter, cuss at myself/car while coming out of a turn, and upshift as soon as possible, lol. Funny thing is...even though I do all that...I STILL run faster than if I stay in 2nd most of the time...lol. So yeah...I'd LOVE some more low-end!!!

ya man ive had nothing but back things to say about the INJEN cai. the **** hits my hood, rubbed threw on the lower part by my filter from hitting against the frame. I dont understand why they didnt do a better job researching this before releasing it.

Boilermaker, mine did the same thing. Drove me nuts, for awhile it was rattling where it fits through the opening at the bottom. I fixed the problem temporarily by wrapping the pipe in duct tape... then when it ate through that, I sold it and bought the (at the time) recently released K&N FIPK. That was a great intake, never gave me any problems. Still glad I got rid of it though, having a less annoying sounding car has been nice.
