Torque converter stall speed

Hey guys I was just wondering what was the stock stall speed on our cars. The reason I am asking is because my stall speed is usually just about 1k and under when the car is fully warmed up. I have heard of others memebers stall speed att about 2k and up. So I am just wondering what if anything could be wrong with my car. I dont know if this helps but I live in Florida, maybe the climate might have something to do with it? Thanks for all the help again.

YS I figured you would have that tech article stored somewhere. So I guess that my torque converter does have a problem since the article says that the stock stall speed is 2600 rpm. Just out of curiosity what is everyones stall speed?
thanks guys

dont torque break its bad for a stock converter and if you boost, lets say at 8psi never ever floor it off the line or you will f@ck your tranny up. Be wise keep boost on a civic between 4 to 5 psi for daily driving and 6psi for small town drag....not 7psi... 7psi might do damage over time.
get a big @ss tranny cooler too
we ping at 9psi! so I read
my .02 cents more on the matter

Are you trying to say that you put it in gear with the brake on and floor it and it only tachs up to 1,000 rpm? IF this is the case it can be because a poorly tuned engine too. This works just the oposite as a tuned engine. A tuned engine on the same stock converter may be able to stall out at over the stock normal stall speed. And to clarify what some people say as its BAD to stall test a car Thats like saying dont use your brake pedal either cause its bad for brake wear . Yes abusing the stall speed test can cause problems but same as riding your brake pedal they both will eventually cause a problem. And as for boosting 8 psi and not flooring it ????? shrug not sure where that came from. Hell i stall launch mine at around 2800rpm and soon as i leave the line its to the floor and 70shot of n2o and havent had a problem yet its all a roll of the dice! And ANY boost you do will eventually do some sort of premature damage same as any other mod you do to ANY car. Its only as strong as your weakess link. WhiteCastle did have a good idea on the tranny cooler as a preventative device for auto civics.

no offense man but have you read any of the threads in the FI forum? we have a couple AT's boosting as much as 10psi daily with no tranny work done other than a tranny cooler. though you may be right about the brake torque launch, i dont think anyone has ever tried it, lol.

First off any after market stall speed converter should be run with a better cooler. But imo any modded car should run an extra tranny oil cooler. You can mount it any where and they do nothing but keep it cooler and hold more fluid. As for the 5spd cooler, you would have to run some kind of electricly driven pump to run that. I would say forget it on a 5spd. But auto's are very easy to do, since they run about 10 psi through the oil cooling lines. Infact they make a remote mount oil filter and temp sender for a auto so you do not have to pop the cover just change like engine oil. For quality I would say any extra tranny oil cooler is good but i have had good luck with b&m coolers.
