01 civic rear drum to disc: parts needed?
ok, I've got a 01 civic si donor vehicle. EXACTLY what parts are needed to do the rear drum to disc conversion? Any unusual parts needed? The car is in florida and the guy is going to ship me whatever is needed, I'd like to get it all in one shipment. Also, is the 01 civic si a 4 or 5 lug wheel? Will I need new rims or is there a way to make my 4 lug wheel work with the setup if it is a 5 lug?
thanks guys!
thanks guys!
pretty sure the si is 4...as for the conversion, I dont really know, but anyone who does; i have one question. Are the SI front brakes better or worse than our front brakes (both disk). Because if they are better, then would it be feasable to convert the front to si disks and the rear to the OEM front disks?

The Si was 4 lug until 2004, but there was no Si for the 2001 model year. So you better make sure someone isn't yanking your chain. Double check the year. Either way, search, I'm pretty sure Hondaluver has posted a parts list.

yes i did post it all up with pictures and what not... please search this has been beating to death...
here it goes...
you need the rear si e-brake cables, the arm that holds the disc and caliper, the disc, caliper, dustcover, and brake pads....
its all in this picture below, and no there was no 01 si, 2004 si's are using rsx parts now and everything is a compleat bolt on, no cutting or sawing, the only thing is that you have to stretch the rear ebrake cable a little cause its a little short but it fits, and remember to bleed...
i'll look for the picture

for my 01 civic ex coupe, what vehicle would be the best donor vehicle to find to do the rear conversion, an rsx or a 02+si??? Do you know what the part that holds the brake on is called?
I guess I need to be able to accuratly describe to the junk yard guy exactly what I need.
so far I gather the e-brake cable, the calipers, rotors, dust covers, brake lines and some other yet un-named part?
Please get back to me on this one with anything I might have missd and which vehicle to specifically request parts of of. Thanks, Jordan

Im sorry i think i have the picture at work, well what that peice is called is the spindel or knuckel
its in the picutre below on the right
that is the last peice you need,
here is a picture of what i just unbolted to bolt on the rear disc converion...
and then bolted everything up in reverse, first bolted on the spinel, the dust cover, rotor, caliper, pads, then brake lines.

also you don't have to worry about your ebrake not working because the si's have a ebrake on the new calipers. so it is totall compatible, you can use either si or rsx rear brake cables...

hey hondaluver- do I need control arms, trailer arms(?) or anything else??? I saw a couple of drum to disc conversions parts on ebay and they listed all sorts of stuff, maybe it was because the donor car was a 2000 civic or they were just throwing stuff in. I e-mailed the junk yard I only needed from a 02-04 civic si the following: E-brake cable, Dust covers, the knuckles (spindles), the calipers and the rotors. I got quoted $450.00 shipped to me, is that in-line? Did I miss any parts to request?

i got mine all for 500 bucks, i believe that is a really good deal...
