16's to 17 inch tires
16's to 17 inch tires
hey i got a question.. i wanted to get these rims that were white to make the black stand out of my car... but i wanted 16 inch rims, because i wanted to still be quick off the line. but they only seel them in 17 inches... is that much of a difference??? or is the rim going to be that much heavier slowing me down...

Performance wise its allways better to run the smaller wheel, because the Larger wheel would have to be substantually lighter inorder for it to equal the Moment of enerta of the smaller wheel.
Boilermaker did the math onece, with the stock 15 Vs his 17 OZ superleggeras. He found that although the 17s were lighter, the enerta of the wheels was substantually Higher then the 15s... By something on the order of 50 LBS. So I would say that where the weight is (By wheel size) is by far more improtant then how heavy that wheel is (example: two wheels 15s one weighs 15 lbs and the other weighs 19lbs, that still only equals a difference of 4 LBS per wheel Vs the 50+ lbs of the larger wheel that actually wiegs less then the 15s.)
