Video and entertainment questions...please help!
Aight so i am looking at putting an xbox in the car within the very near future. I have a 2003 civic (for interior perspectives). I am thinking about several different options.
A. getting a fold out lcd screen and mounting it under my kenwood reciever that i have now (mp522?). This is the easiest setup i believe.
B. Getting a screen and custom fabricating (either fiber-glass or plastic) a piece to mount the screen in where the cd player is. Thus having to relocate the cd player. Will i be able to mount the player standing verticle within the center concel (sp?). I saw the install of the headunit where the cig lighter is but i ahve reserves about that.
Finally which option do u think is the best? How much is it going to cost me to put an xbox in the car with an lcd screen? (price including screen and wires and anything else). I have looked around at prices of screens and different companies.
Is there anything else i will need besides the box, lcd screen, and rca's?
Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated!

Does your current deck play DVD's? Can the complete face plate be removed from the deck? As far as what would look and work best? If you do ....
A. I would mount the fold out screen on top and the deck below it so the screen dont block the deck
B. This would be my preference to custom make the dash to fit a standard LCD and remount the deck soemwhere else.
The reason i asked about the face plate is ive seen some relocations where the face plate is mounted in a spot and then is attached to the deck via wires. this way you can mount the face plate in a spot that dosent have enough room for the full deck to be mounted.

hmmm......i have a detachable face but i am not 100% sure i understand what u are talking about. The current deck does not play dvd's but have no fear the xbox i will be installing will be mod'd so it will play dvd's, mp3, and games.
Please explain more about how this wireing of the face in another location works. Very interesting......also how challending will this be to install?

Ive seen it done where you mount the face plate soemwhere with limited space then you solder wires onto the face plate on the metal taps that are on the back of it then run the wires to the deck and solder them to it. I've never done it myself but it makes for a pretty intersting install when you have the face plate mounted somewhere that everyone knows there is no room behind it. Doing this is of course dependent on what deck you had and if its even possible with that deck. on a scale from 1- 10 10 being pro install id say somewhre bwtween 9 and 10

It's not touch screen. I've had touch screens before and they tend to get scuff marks on them. And it's a IVA-D900 has built in DVD player and was rated as the best 7" display for quality when it came out. Not sure how it ranks now. They retail for about $2200, but can be got on the net for around $1800 and sometimes dealers will lower thier retail price a bit.
