do i need an EQ?
do i need an EQ?
alright, so i installed my amp and new speakers.
my speakers are located in the factory spots.
they are 4-way pioneers. my amp is a 1500 watt(65 x 4)
Rockford Fosgate.
I noticed that i have only limited control over the highs and lows
in my music.
also, most of the time the bass seems to drown out the song, and the highs
just don't sound crisp.
will the addition of an eq help to crisp the highs and lower the bass just a bit?
then willl i be able to increase the mids to get a better sounding song?
also, if i add a sub or pair if subs, will that allow me to use my interior speakers for mainly
the mids and highs, and cut down on interior rattle from, the bass?

Adding a sub will give you MORE rattling, not cut down on it. The fosgate amp probably just has a HPF on it, either fixed or adjustable. The only way you can tune your system is with an EQ, or possibly make some small adjustments with your HU.
Edit: if you have an adjustable HPF, moving it to a higher number such as 125 or so will cut down on the bass coming out of your speakers.

my amp is a punch 501x.
it has only a switch for LP-AP-HP.
1 for the front speakers, 1 for the rear
i know this is for the low pass, all pass, & high pass switch.
i guess my real problem is the rattling the comes from the rear speakers as the bass is increased.
how can a cut down the rattling that comes from the bass?
do those sound absorbing panels you see in every stereo shop really work.
can you even install those in the rear?

I beleive you are talking about dynamat? There are alternatives available online such as fatmat and raammat that will do the same thing for much much less $$. Yes, they will help, but you need to put it on the metal, on the plastic rear deck, and then use weather stripping on the parts of the rear deck that come into contact with the window. All of these things are causing your rattle.
