any pics of false floor amp installs, in the trunk?..
i'm trying to get an idea of what an amp would like in the floor of the trunk, and want to see if someone has done it yet, i saw the pics of the person that did the false floor in the cabin of the car, but i want mine in the trunk, got a new amp coming that i want to show off
anyone got a pic?

anyone got a pic?
we didnt smooth out the seams before taking the pics, we shoulda done that. they are normally invisible.
when we built floors in the shop, we always used grill cloth, i wanted to use carpet, it matched better.
i forgot that its stretchy though, so we are gonna rebuild that panel using 60% or greater open perforated metal, to prevent the sagging. be warned

concept is the same, no matter what car it is. we did one in a 2k2 civic at my shop, but i never got the pictures for it, unfortunately. much the same, except all carpet, the hatch was shaped like a superman emblem, and was covered in grill cloth rather than carpet.
for a pair of pioneers rather than a single max, too. all surface mounted.
false floors represent an absolute limiless range of possibilities, based only on imagination and your ability to cram 10 pounds of **** into a 5 pound bag. or in our case, 10 pounds of **** into an 8 pound bag.

nice job WR, i think it looks great, but i am really wanting to keep the spare tire (and would like to actually be able to access it).
GreenNVicious, do you still have the spare tire? thats what i'm looking at doing, putting an amp in the false floor, also, you have any cooling for the amps, like a couple fans? looks good btw

i'm just so **** to try and go anywhere without the spare, i have that feeling you know "the first time i go somewhere without a spare, i'll get a flat"
got anymore pics GreenNVicious? like what it looks like with the carpet off?

I'm the same way though, I would love to have a completely stealth install. I've seen other cars with them and its REALLY nice to have. Specially because you regain so much trunk space. But I'm VERY uneasy about losing my spare as well. Especially since I do a lot of highway driving.

relocate under the car, what an interesting concept, i might have to look into that, but i'll try to do a false floor with the spare tire in place first, the new amp i'm getting is 3" tall, and has an internal fan for cooling, it may not need all the room and extra cooling.
if you are just doing an amprack in teh spare tire well, its easy to keep the spare there. its jsut when doing a box. anyone can relocate the spare under, there are about a dozen threads about it in the archives, just do a red button

i thinking about the spare tire removal/relocation as a last resort, and i dont need weight reduction, i drive a civic
Here is my old setup. (never quite finished it).
Here is my system now.....I don't like the carpet so I'm probably going to get vinyl all around the trunk. Plus I want to make a trim piece to go around the subwoofer. The amps are set off with red neon, while a white neon strip sits under the rear deck to illumiate the trunk and replace the stock trunk light. Looks sweet at night. BTW, I relocated the tire to underneath the car.
System includes:
MB Quart components (front)
Rockford Fosgate 6.5's (rear)
Pioneer 7300 cd player
3 Sony explod amps
1 12" pioneer sub
Streetwires
100 sq ft of Fatmat

That last picture is what I thought about having a local shop do for my car. Slick maybe you should print that picture out and take it to advantage and show them that. Chris talked about doing something like that for my car at one point but I changed my mind. I actually like it better now that I can picture it. Looks nice gearbox!

Thanks man. I actually put a thread together on how I did it. Actually, this was really easy and doesn't require alot of materials.

it wont really work for me, the way gearbox did it, my sub box is big, and that amp i'm gonna recess is big also, nearly 2 feet long. i'm still waiting on the amp to arrive, then i'm going to do some measurements. but if you guys have more pics, keep them coming, looking good so far

ive been putting thought into having teh amps on a sliding panel hanging off teh bottom of teh rear deck. why dont you take that into consideration?
im gonna need it though since ill need massive amounts of room. gonna be running 3 amps minimum, possibly more in the future
