Cutting away metal door trim to fit speakers?

Sup! helping a friend out installing his infinity kappa speakers. Just like all kappa speakers, the magnet is huge and will not fit the door. My question is for people who've cut the metal hole where the stock speaker goes into, what did you use to cut the metal? you guys thing a dremel would do it?

dremel would work. easiest way is to cut slits that radiate out, like sun rays, then hammer back the tabs. also sawzall, air saw, or even some gnarly tin snips would work pretty good.

The first night I used a pair of pliers. It was too late and the dremel/jig saw was to loud. It looks just like I did it professionaly because the next day I took the grinder to it. : ) As for the otehr side I used the jig saw, and then grined it again, and then primed it up. That way I don't get any rust.

When it comes time to mount the speakers your gonna have to make a bracket for them. The one that comes with the kappas will work, however, when you roll down the window it will smack the speaker. I don't know the depth of the bracket you will need however. I had a leak in my door and it ruined mine so I went to kick panels.

right, post cutting a speaker baffle made from MDF at the appropriate thickness is the way to go.

1" thick for a 3" deep speaker, less for lesser speakers.

I used a dremel to make the metel thinner and weak. I went through at least 20 grinding bits to cut through a hole big enough for my speakers. I then used snipper things to cut all the way through. Then I had to make a spacer out of plywood so it would fit without hitting the window. What a pain in the *** all this was.
