CES 2004 news...
i didn't go to CES, but i kept up with the event from other forums, and from a few friends that went.
for those who care, here is some of the news i gathered:
Rockford Fosgate: all new subs and amps, they are sweet looking. both, the punch and power series amps were redone and they look great, power monoblocks look like they run at 1 ohm mono now. they have new power amp thats rated at 3000 watts rms, thats insane (i'm sure the price is to). the subs are also all redone, and renamed, and they finally got rid of that ghey punch z woofer.
go to rockfords website for pics of all the new stuff : www.rockfordfosgate.com
JL Audio: 2 new e series amps, a 400 watt monoblock and a 800 watt monoblock. since they are e series, they should be fairly cheap, i hope. a new ZR series component set, higher up from the XR's, they look pretty good and handle agood amount of power, i can't wait to hear these. some woofer updates to, mainly a 15w3v2 and a new woofer, w1v2.
they have info on the website already, but nothing about the w1v2 (i dont know why, i saw a pic of the woofer at CES, i'll post it if i can) : www.jlaudio.com
Clarion: redone there headunits. they have a new 9255 out, its a remake of the old 9255, pure audiophile, SQ deck, costs $1400 retail, no mp3 or satelite radio. they have an ugly HU, the new 945, wierd looking with a touch face, i dont really like it. the new 845 is like the old 835, but has a record feature, basically records cd tracks to wma and stores them in the unit, couple hundred minutes worth, i think its a cool idea.
check it out at : www.clarion.com
Alpine: some new HU's, and updated type-s speakers and subs i believe. on HU's, they have a new 9833, its like the 9815, but looks better imho. they are also the first company to incorporate an xm tuner into the deck.
www.alpine.com
Eclipse: the best news i got is from this company, they added mp3 playback to all there decks, so you dont need that e-com thing. there site isn't updated, but i'm sure it will be soon: www.eclipse-web.com
thats all i got, anyone else have anything, add it in. still waiting on pioneer and audiocontrol news.

me so dumb, forgot about my favorite company:
Diamond Audio: new D3 amps, i'm guessing they are lower line amps aimed at JL e series (price wise), so basically, an affordable amp from diamond. new CM3 coax/comps, i'm not to sure whats new about them. cool blue edition D5 amps, again, dont know what that is, but i think its just a new color for the current d5 amps, or maybe some neon lighting, i dunno.
thats all from diamond, i dont care for kicker much, but i know they have a new L7 (looks ugly with that grill), check it out at www.kicker.com

oh..forgot to mention the RF monitor now....i think it might be lacking on features compared to other companies that have been doing it for a while

good god that motor is insane. i thought 46lbs was heavy til i saw what it could push. i am just amazed...
rockfords subs do look a little shnazzy. i wonder how they sound though.
i do wanna see those quart amps soon too. i might want a new in cabin amp soon, and was thinking about the polk c400.4, but might reconsider.
alpine and pioneer redid a lot of their low end HU's too. got my new crutchfield and saw that. kenwood has a new low end excelon too, x569 or some number like it. will compete with midrange pioneer and alpine decks.

Being at CES I saw alot of nice stuff and some ugly stuff.
Alpine has re done their F#1 Status line with better product and a cheaper price tag. I think the most impressive from that line is their new 8 channel processor which by combining two of them together you can get 16 channels of output including a rear center channel output. They also have a new X-Type subwoofer line which should be a nice addition to their already powerfull subwoofer lineup.
Pioneer has a new Monitor with built in DVD and DVD Navigation in the $2000 range which is the cheapest combo in the market I think.
Rockford has that new makeover on the amps and subs which should win over alot of people not to mention their power capabilities.
Nothing else really impressed me at the show but their was some nice Demo cars out there! Alpine's Mini was very impressive which I got to see be built and got to sit in it before it left for CES. I'll Have pics later.
