Can only half of a component set work at a time?
Well, Ima just cut to the chase. My component set tweeters just stopped producing sound. My woofers still work and all, and both my tweets and woofers are hooked up to a crossover and then hooked up to an amp. I then bought a cheap pair of tweeters from walmart to see if my original tweeters were blown and the same thing happened, they dont produce any sound when hooked up. Now, how come my 6.5" still work and not the tweeters, they are both hooked up to a crossover, and the tweeters still sound like they produce sound but verry little, I turn it all the way up and all you hear is a hiss with a hint of voice in it!
WTF, if it would of been the tweeters that were blown, then the new set of tweeters that I bought should have worked right?
Anybody have any suggestions of what I should try do to revive these, I'm pretty sure they are not blown because they are infinity kappas that handle alot of power and I'm only pushing them with a cheap sony amp that always lies about its power rating.

If its a blown crossover would the woofer still work? Can I purchase replacement crossovers, if so where?
Having no highs in my cars kills everything, all i hear is the rattleing from my subs!

thats the bad thing, I got them off ebay, not used but brand new.
I dont think Im supplying too much power, they are hooked up to a sony 2 channel amp that pushes 80 watts rms per channel.
And its not like I blast my music very loud, I just have it to where you can hear it over all the road noise.

my amp only has a low pass filter on it snd it was on. I dont remember if that was always on or if I had it off. Would having the low pass filter on make any difference?
it might be a streth, but maybe if you bumped it or something and it only let the lower frequencies, the ones the tweeter doesn't play through, you wouldn't get much sound out of the tweeters, btu still from the woofers. it's worth a try i guess

different components make high pass and low pass filters. so the woofers could still work on blown crossovers. but both not working is strange...
but lol, i just read you had the low pas filter on. uh, that would definitely stop the tweeters from playing. the static you hear is either radio noise or cd noise, and it's always there.
low pass = high block.

Yeah its all good now. Sorry I waited so long to respond. I was just waiting until today when I installed my fatmat.
Fatmat is the shizzle. It doesn't stop all the rattles from being hears from the outside, but the inside the bass is so much tighter and no rattleling can be heard. I still have like half left, so I need to look what areas could use another layer.
Oh yeah, I dont have any tar smell that the people are talking about. So overall it gets my highest approval.
