to: dvd player owners; some questions
i have one more DIN slot in my car, and i'm thinking of putting a dvd receiver w/ motorized face into it

i have some qs:
1)do i need any additional equipment to use the dolby surround?
2)do i need any additional stuff for the tv tuner
3)is a dvd player worth it? i've never ridden in a car w/ it, so i'd be the first one who owns one that i would know of, if i buy it. they're so frickin expensive! but rush hour is boring...
4)can the motorized screen play while driving?
i currently have an alpine mp3/cd deck. should i keep it? i have an external amp, is it possible to hook the alpine+dolby surround processer to the amp, or not?

#1, the surround is 5.1. i don't have a center channel speaker, i dunno if its required. i have the other speakrs tho, including a sub
#4 applies to rush hour. i drive past the bay bridge (towards san francisco... REALLY slow, sometimes a complete halt) during rush hours, i won't watch and drive and watch otherwise.
there's some dvd players that are in-dash, which only have video working when the car is in park! i have passengers, and i don't want to buy a dvd receiver w/ a motorized screen if it only works in park and requires additional screens

Sorry i re-read the link you posted and saw So i would assume that if you wanted to have the cneter channel it would require another amp and center speaker. You may want to goto pioneer's web site and see if they have manual available to look at. May help determine if you have to use the center channel or not to make use of the surround sound

i have a center speaker for my kenwood kvt-910, it also comes with a 5.1 digital surround sound. it is suppost to make the quality much better, but i just haven't had the chance to install it.. im too lazy...
my dvd player can play while in motion, just need to wire it correctly... hehe
