windshield quality question.

is there a big difference between common windshield and cheaper ones?
my dad's car's windshield got cracked, almost broken, so he gotta change it
the dealer said its about 350-400 (01 mitsu montero lmt)
but i got a coupon from some auto glass shop..50% off, and $100 rebate for some case
so i wonder if theres enough reason for those to be much cheaper..such as bad *** quality

You know what i mean? Windows have to meet certain standards.

And also the dealer price will ALWAYS be the highest

Yes, there is a difference in quality. Not necessarily because of the glass they use, but because of who installs it. On many new cars, the windshield becomes an intricate part of the structure of the car, and if you get in an accident, it needs to be top notch.

Don't skimp on this area.

I didn't notice any. My dad replaced the windshield of the car that I drive because of a crack that grew. There weren't any differences that I could notice. It doesn't say Honda on one of the corners but it's still the same thing. I say go for the auto glass shop.
