Question about a setup
Sorry for lack of specifics, but I'm buying a 1200w Kenwood amp, 2 Audiobahn 600w subs w/band-pass box, and a 200w Pioneer deck. Using the amp to only power my subs and using the deck to give more power to my stock speakers would this setup have nice bass but still keep sound quality? Please bare with me, I know little about brands or if one is better than another in a category.

If you want good sound quality i don't think you should get the bandpass box or any audiobahn subs. Depending on how much you want to spend, u might wanna look at alpine or jl audio. If you would tell me your budget on your hu, amp, and subs i could help you out alot better with suggestions.

I already have the subs. Im buying the amp and deck reguardless because of a deal. Although the music I listen to doesnt have alot of bass so I was hopeing to get sound quality but, I got the subs for free. So if anyone have some ideas on subs with sound quality, please let me know..

For sound qulity i would look at the alpine type r's You can get em around $100 a piece on ebay. Depending on the kenwood amp's rms power you want to put the gain set to around 400-500 rms per sub if you get the alpines.

if you don't need a lot of bass, then just ditch the 2 sub mentality and get a single sub in a sealed box. you'll save trunk space, and probably money. plus you'll have a sound you like more.
many users have a single 10 or 12 and are more than pleased. even if you have a 4 channel amp, it can be done. just trying to broaden your horizons.

by deck, im assuming you are referring to the headunit. you do know you won't get that listed 200 watts out of it right? im assuming its something like a mofset 50X4 or something like that. don't know of many hu's that put out their stated wattage...

I am going to to install all of this regardless because most of it is a gift. I am just wondering in the future, if I do not like it, what should I go with. I was hoping to gain sound quality along with some bass, but I would assume its one or the other. I know very little about any of this because I focused all on my motor, but by sampling other 'systems' I want one too! hehe

Where I come from, people use the coined term differently. Here pretty much everyone drives domestics and anyone who drives a foreign car is a ricer. It does not matter even if you show the symptoms of a 'ricer'.

that setup is fine if u want to use it...just get a 4 channel amp for the speakers cause the bass is gong to dround out the other 4 speakers. u wilol have planty of bass and no mids and highs.when the dec says it has 50x4 it actually has like 12-15 i believe. either way it sounds much better with an amp to the speakers. basically i'm saying keep the setup and get a 4 channel amp whenever u can to add to sound quality. hope i helped

a lot of decks tend to put out maybe 22rms.. I'd suggest not going for the 4 chan amp, but rather a 2 chan amp and get the fronts powered up.
well.... you could get a 4 chan amp and bridge the rear 2 channels to power a sub.

realistically you will never see more than about 10 watts of CLEAN power from ANY deck, dont care who makes it

I am aware of the faulty statements of the power put out by decks, but I think patrick got to the point I wanted. Although, I was blessed with a 1500w Rockford amp 2ch so, I should be good on powering my subs. Thank you all for your imput.
