there is a nut underneath holding the outer tails on. you don't HAVE to take the bumper off to get the lights off. It helps, but you don't have to.

Taking off the bumper would be the easiest way if you really can't remove the lights. I didn't remove the bumper when I changed my tails. Have you tried lossen the metal rack inside the bumper and pulled the light out?

I can post some pics of what we all are talking about here. I understand how frustrating you can get when you thought the lights were about to let go.

Hey man--when I put my stock lights back on without taking off the bumper, I literally had to bang them in. They won't come out unless the bumper is off.

Yes, the top pic was taken from under the car. They are kinda of on the opposite side of the "Civic". It would be a lot more easier if you can take the bumper off.

You HAVE to take the bumper off. there is a screw that holds the light that needs to be removed.

I don't think it is hard to take off the bumper. I was just lazy to take it off. That's all. You have to loosen the screw underneath the light for sure, but if you can't loosen the nuts inside, nevermind, take off your bumper then you can surely get the lights out very easily!

There are screws underneath both fenders, two clips on the bottom of the bumper, and two hidden bolts (under black covers) when you open the trunk. Then the bumper pulls off from the sides. You have to pull, since it's held on by internal clips.
