Aero kit + Tanabe RSpec
I have the Tanabe Rsepc installed and im installing the OEM Aero kit this Sat and my question is will i need to lower the exhaust to prevent it melting or should i be ok? If i need to move it then ima have to get someone else to install it since there arent any muffler shops near by. Please guys any information would be great. I dont think i should have to lower but i havent had ANY experience with kit installs and muffler clearance.
I spent 1425 points to do this.

hmmm... ive got a xenon rear lip, and my paint melted a bit, and formed a 2" bubble where the muffler is (fortunately its on the under side and cant be seen unless you get down real low to peak). and thats from an OEM muffler. If its closer than a 1" gap or so, i would do it just to be safe. then again, if you have a bigger tip, maybe it wont be quite as hot as an OEM one (more surface area for the heat to spread).

oh dope! you're getting ur aero kit!
but yeah,...i think it depends on how low ur exhaust tip already is, in relation to the groove in the stock bumper. if it's perfectly tucked in, with little space, then i'd say u need to lower the muffler a bit for the rear lip. or else, u risk melting ur bumper, and you also might hear a thumping noise while driving, from the muffler tip bouncing and hitting the bumper. i had that problem when i first got my greddy evo on. the muffler shop put the tip too close in the exhaust groove. but then i took it back and they just bent the hangers a bit and now it's perfect.

Yea as of now tyhe Rspec has a bit of room left to sit andf i think since the exhaust cut outlet has a little room for it but im not sure. The tip isnt tucked under the bumper its sitting outside so the fumes dont melt anything. If you look at the pic here you can KINDA see where th tip sits

ok, i see. your muffler sits just like mine. my exhaust tip sticks out a good couple inches or so like your's. im guessing now you're main concern is, whether the exhaust tip will bounce around and hit the groove/bumper. it might melt a bit if the tip is sitting directly against the bumper groove tho. but no fumes to seriously melt it.
btw, dont forget to post pics of ur kit on asap!

RedDragon, when you done putting the kit one, would you mind taking a rear shot so I can see how well the exhaust and the kit are compatable to each other, maybe another shot of how low the exhaust is to the ground. Thanks.

Yea its called the Ultra Medalion. Still no one has answered my question. I dont want to find out the hard way and Smurf i got the Tanabe for a reason so getting the Hayame wouldnt really be an option. Thanks for the help tho. Anyone else with a little more insite on this subject.
If the Aero rear lip is anything like the OEM rear lip, then you don't have to lower your exhaust.
Here's a pic of the OEM rear lip. Notice how the lip sits right up against the rear bumper. I'm pretty sure the Aero rear is the same way.
