D2S or D2R HID bulb into TYC projectors??

Ok I have had HID's in my TYC projectors for like six months now. When I bought the kit, one of the bubls was kinda defective but still worked. I have been looking into buying a set of Phillips bulbs but I don't know what kind to get. Does anyone know if they are D2S or D2R? Also can someone explain the difference? Thanks

A D2S bulb is a direct fit for a projector on a car with factory equipped HID(A4,A6,TSX,S2K) A D2R is a direct fit for a car with HID equipped reflector headlight housings(TL,CL,RL). If it came as a kit it is most likely a modified D2S to fit in a H1 housing. You whould have to find a H1 rebased bulb. Not an easy task other than E-Bay, just make sure they are a real quality brand bulb.(Philips, Osram, GE) because there are a lot of knockoffs out there that people sell under those names. These cheap bulbs usually burn out very quickly.

Thanks a lot man. I found some Phillips D2S H1 HID bulbs for $250 a set on eBay. Do you think this is a good deal? Also do you have any pics of the difference in the bulbs?

damn, 250$ for just replacement bulbs for HID? $hit, thats fcukin expensive. Now, im questioning if i should even get HID now. I know they dont blow out all the time and its way better than just buying bulbs, but damn, 250$ everytime they blow is a lot of money!, lol.

JayFReaZy, If anything... You do this... (This is what I' am going to do)

Retrofit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2437104905
AUDI A4 S4 HID HEADLIGHT XENON PROJECTORS D2S - 165$

Meaning you get projectors and HID bulbs for 165...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2437161467

Best way to go... You can only get Audi TT or BMW 3 Series prjectors (cause of the size, Our headlights suck )

Im just scared of cutting my TYC Headlights... :X

!No problem guys! To see the difference in the bulbs go to www.hidforum.com and search. There is a lot of good info there.

If you can still get a hold of a Catz H4 high/low kit..that is the ultimate way to go as far as reliability and ease of install. Thats what I have, it gives a fully functional, VERY POWERFUL high beam and there is a perfect beam pattern on the ground with almost no glare. The ballasts, ignitors, bulbs, and all the wiring are very high quality made in japan. Ive been mistaken for a TL by a few of my friends while driving around town! I don't have any pics up but "Klam" does on his profile

I have the halo projectors, but im scared into cutting them too, lol. Retro fitting seems comlicated and a lot of work. Im going back to my stock headlights, and I cleared them out. If anything, ill get h4 HID's, but that still wont be for a while, lol.
