Have some ?'s about engine swap (not 7th gen vic related)
I'm thinking about starting up a little project car. It would be a 92-95 civic and i would want to put in a JDM b18c or a b18c5 into it. Now i know that i would need the engine, axels, computer, transmission, and the engine mounts to hold it in there. Im sure im missing alot that i would need. Can you give me some info on doing this, such as what are good prices for the engines and where to look, and any web sites that might help me. Thanks for all ur help guys.
P.S. - i found a 93 civic 2 door for $1900 doesnt say how many miles but "says" excellent running condition. good price or no? thanks again
- sorry mods u can move this to the swaps section.

Yea that's a good price if it's an EX and the body is good. The motor doesn't really matter at this point, your planning on a swap. The b18C5 is the JDM Type R motor and your going to pay out the rear for it. It will cost you 3K+. It depends on what your looking for, you might want to check out the B16A2 This will cost you less and is a more common motor, puts out good HP numbers and there is a SH(IT LOAD of parts for it, cheaper too. I plan on doing a 93 vic and im going the B16 w/ turbo. You can pull 600+ HP out of that motor.
What will you need off the top of my head would be
Mounts, tranny, shift linkage, ecu, wiring harness, distributor, axles, altenator, accessories if you want to keep them (AC/PS but i advise you dont if your going all race) And all the nuts/bolts/wires. Most places have a upgrade for a LSD tranny, i highly advise that!!! well worth the 3-500 bux. Think i got everything there. Hope this helps good luck!

I did a 92 civic hatch swap. I got the car in running condition for 1k. Got a JDM b16a2 from importautosalvage.com for less than 4k to my door with a limited slip. No new mounts are needed, any B series will drop right into the 92-00 engine bay with no mods. This car ran a 14.6 on the pizza cutter stock hard *** 13's. Who knows what it would have done with some sticky rubber. Well anyway...this is what I can tell you from my experience....
If I had it to to again...I would get another hatch, 92-95 with no running engine. I would try to get the SI model, because of it's rear disc brakes. This time I would go with a H22, because running a 13 with no mods is nicer than a 14.6. Plus a H22 is cheaper. And don't worry about what everyone says about how it's so much heavier and all that...it's not very noticeable. I mean, it is noticeable, but not that bad. If you get a H22, you'll need to get new mounts.

this topic could go on forever...if you have any questions feel free to ask. I am by no means the most knowledgeable person in this field, but I do have a little experience that may be useful for a starting point for you.
