congrats on the new job. I might have to look for one soon.. my department is considering consolidating.. blah.
how old are u aznboysrfr?
student credit cards are always a lot easier to get.
although credit card is bad to have when you dont have some restrain on yourself... it is important to establish credit early and keep it in strong standing.
my suggestion is to check out the credit union credit cards.. the small ones may not offer any, but check around. credit unions are different from the major banks, in that they are member owned. check around locally, ask your parents or friends or family.. usually credit unions allow you to join if a family member is in one... so ask around.
when you start without any established credit, you will encounter some high rates and fees.. but dont be discouraged, you gotta start from somewhere.
there are many many credit cards from different providers out there.. so shop around on the student card.
dont apply for too many at once. its not good to have too many credit inquries on your credit history... so dont go off applying left and right. I wouldn't apply more than 3 in a year. in fact once you have a credit card, there's really no need to have more than 4 or 5 credit accounts. it'll only end up hurting ur credit rating to have too many.
try the American Express Blue for Student...
the major banks (Chase, Citi, Bank of America) Student Card...
again, dont be discourage with 20% APR, or a credit limit of say $500, you gotta start from somewhere.
alright I'm whoringi up the thread. but for those that diss credit cards.. you gotta buy a better car, a bigger house.. and do more things later. credit matters. a whole lot.
a good credit goes a long way, and a bad credit may take years to repair. so its handy to have a credit card. really handy. but you gotta be really careful with it. I have over 30 grand in credit limit from my cards, but that doesnt mean I have 30 grand to spend.
