What parts to use for HX?
I have a 2001 HX civic that I bought for the gas mileage difference since I drive about 1,000 miles per week. Well now its time for a timing belt change since I will be rooting around I was thinking about doing a little modification.
I guess my problem is that an HX is a VTEC engine but parts listings usually only have LX/DX and EX parts. I would think I should go for EX parts since it is also VTEC but I am not sure.
As far as the parts I was thinking I don't really want to lose low end or mileage so I was avoiding a SRI but I did hear some good things about the new AEM V2 CAI and that it has gains across the entire powerband. I was also thinking about a set of AEM underdrive pulleys for the same reason. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. I know I am not going to break any speed records but I would like to gain some efficiency using superior performance parts.

Hello, fellow HX owner. As far as ehxaust parts, you would need to get DX/LX stuff. For Intakes, EX parts should fit as well as the pullies. I've heard good and bad (mostly bad) about the AEM V2, so I rather recommend a regular AEM CAI or an INJEN.
Believe it or not a lot of people told me that the CAI from AEM (not V2) is a joke. I would go with the V2 or with Injen. Also a very good intake is the K&N typhoon but I don't think they make it for our cars.
i have 2002 honda civic hx as well....
ex parts will fit for the hx
if you are that worried....just pm me whenever
you have a question and i'll be glad to answer

i have a 2001 hx also... when it comes to the intake, all that matters is if its an auto or manual... also, the AEM pullies should work fine... i have an rvm lightenend underdrive crank pulley installed with no problems so far..
however, the hx header is similar to the dx/lx and not the same as the ex...
