5x7" or 5.25" JL XR components

So my Ranger takes 5x7" speakers.

I am going to get JL XR series components.

Should I get the actual 5x7" or get the 5.25" set?????

The are the same tweets and crossovers. The 5x7 are actually $35 more ...

Get 5.25" components...not coax. Or you could get the 6.5" component set, and either widen the holes, or use a 1" spacer.

I am thinking the 5x7's would be better in the midrange.

Hmm....according to JL's website all the 5x7 speakers are coaxial, even though one set appears from the picture to be a seperate 2-way system. The 5x7 will probably have more punch to the midbass since it has more cone area than the 5.25, but a 6.5 mid has *slightly* more cone area than a 5x7....so if you were to enlarge the holes you could get 6.5 components and they would sound excellent.

All in all though, I think either set will sound great. 5x7's fitting with the least modifications.
