i was driving yesterday and there was a sound coming from the right front of the car...it sounded like 2 metals grinding so i took the car to a mechanic...7000 miles and the damn pads were down to nothing...as the mechanic said "that is the first car i have seen in my life that had the brake pads go out at 7000 miles" WTF IS UP WITH THIS??? did anyone else have this problem??
I wish I was asian

yea...it has to be the way you brake. if you press on the brakes earlier and use less force, they'll last longer than just mashing them. Your rotors may have had to be remachined because they were warped a little...or because you wore the pads down to bare metal.

I would still take it to your dealer, even though the pads are consumable, they really should last more than 7k miles, it makes me think that there's something wrong with his car. I brake really hard, and even warped my rotors, the dealership resurfaced them for free.

my driving habits are partly responsible for this but i dont think they could cause the brake pads to go out at 7K miles...i am in the process of modifying my car which is considered the biggest sin in my unlcle's eyes (who is also the mechanic) so i am bound to take all the blame...just glad he didn't tell my parents or i would be taking the bus to school
Haha, i had the same problem at about 9000 miles, my dad thought i was braking to hard to, but i went to the dealership and bitched for a while, saying its crazy to have pads that wear out so quickly. So i told them that, i would buy new rotors, and they would purchase my pads for me. I bought some brembo rotors of e-bay, and i had them purchase some EBC Greenstuff pads ( from their modifying department) and had them installed. Ive never had a problem since.
The exact same thing happened to me at 7k. Yes I drive an automatic, and no ABS. I'm at around 14k right now and I can feel the brakes going again. The first time Honda covered, I don't think I will be as lucky again. Guess it's time to get new rotors and pads. Do you guys know anything about these rotors? Rotors

I had my pads go at 15k with my rotors warped my mechanic said the rotors on my car 2001 EX Coupe were very thin and could be warped by over tighting of the wheel. He said be easy and about 8k more miles my rotors were warped again i just dont care anymore.

I have 36,xxx miles on my car. I have an Auto, Ex, with ABS. The brakes are fine. Now to speak of the Firestones, is a different story.
I can see where an auto would have quicker brake wear than a manual. I mean these cars have so little drag with the automatic tranny that there is hardly any engine braking. Heck, mine even tends to roll back down the driveway if I dont use the brake to hold it while waiting for the garage door.
