Mazda buying back RX8s
"Apparently they are revising the RX-8 horsepower figures: the Manual is being revised down 3.6% to 238hp, and the Auto down 4.5% to 197hp."

geez people. Even if the rx-8 was overrated, it still has enough power to boot. plus, if any of you took the time to read the link given, its probably some emissions thing. So it shouldnt be too hard to cure. Yea, it'd be nice to have the extra power....but the car is still a blast to drive. also, its only 12 horsepower...no biggie.

that therom thing so got owned
and i do kinda agree with cambo up to an extent
at least now, with so many people returning their rx8, used rx8s may start plopping up, and the price for the rx8 may go down, cheaper = yay for people who wants a rx8, like me
(i just didn't want my friend to have one

) Domestics=generally faster than our civics
Domestics=paved the way for imports (generally)
It isn't fair to put a label or generalize a group of vehicles just cause they have a domestic nameplate. It's downright ignorant to say domestics suck. A lot of my family/friends has had domestics (GM/Chrysler/Ford) and in many cases, they have outlasted the same imports (of year/class/engine size) etc in my family (Honda,Nissan etc)
Anyway, I just HATE when people (esp. import people) use the cliche "Domestics suck". Just pure ignorance.

I'd still take it over the vic. heh.
but anytime a manufacture overrates its engine output... tsk tsk.
reminds me of hyundai... and they knew about their problem, only when its exposed did they do something about it.

The only signifigance I see here is in regards to magazine advertisements and bragging rights.
Basically, anyone that bought the car test drove it first (unless they're an idiot). So it's not like Mazda rerates it's horsepower figure and all of a sudden your car is slower. IT'S STILL THE SAME CAR. It's still going to accerlerate with the same quickness and corner with the same ability.
You don't buy a car based on a horsepower rating, you buy it based on what it can do. Altering the rating changes nothing. It still has the same power. What's the saying? "A rose by any other name is still a rose"
So yeah, it would have been nice if Mazda had done a better job of rating the car's power before printing the figure a million times. But in all reality a number is just a number. It's the performance that REALLY matters.
