LX driving impressions

I'm most likely getting a 03 5spd LX cpe this weekend. I'm not expecting ***** out perfromance, I know this car will be slow. It's going to be quite a step down from my last car, a 93 hatch with a heavy modded b16 that ran 13's. (didn't have the money or time to work for it, sold it for $3500 )

My question: is it PAINFULLY slow? I've heard people have to turn off their A/C to get up hills. I just want something to get me around town, and save some gas money. (don't be fooled by the username, I'm a poor college student )

Unless I find a free k20 on the side of the road, I have no plans to do anything to the motor.

I dont know about everybody else, but my beats the hell out of my previous 6th gen auto sedan. Not a ferarri, but heck mines pretty dang peppy, it has at least enough to whip in & out of traffic, & pass people on 2 lane roads. Actually, my car is the fastest out of all my friends cars, not saying much cuz they drive like focuses, escort ZX2, old *** whatever the hell that dude drives, & like an early 90s subaru, but still worth mentioning. Everyone loves driving my car. So, its not that bad, I actually have alot of fun in my car, but im fully aware that im not going to win any trophys with it.

Edit: make sure u get a 5spd, cus ive heard the autos are pretty bad, although ive never driven one.

It's the fastest car I've ever owned. It's not bad, not until you have a car full of fat chicks, then you might have to turn off the AC to go up a steep hill, or pull out in front of someone. Also the suspension is better now than it was on the 01's like mine.

Ah, I feel better now. Sounds funny, but I've basically closed the deal over the internet ($13,300 inclding dest.), before I've even been able to take this for a test drive. As long as it has enough go to putt around town, I'm cool.

Yea I think the fact that its a 5spd will make it a fun car, just at least do something to fix the damn spongy shifter. After I put on a DC short shift adapter & Capyodas aluminum bushings, its soo much better, although youll probably have better results with a REVO SS ( I got a hella good deal on the DC so...) I felt the shifter on this guys stock 02 after getting used to mine, & geeze that thing sucks!!!

Shifter is the next thing I'm going to upgrade. Just changing to a shorter **** made a world of difference. I put in an 00 SI **** (factory fit) and it made shifting feel more solid.

Yea im about to get a MOMO Sphere after I get my windows tinted, & cut out those stupid plastic tabs around the shifter, under the boot, so it hangs like a normal car, & dosent stick up & look retrted. Thats bugged me ever since it was new., But just to get rid of the crappy stock shifter will be soo much worth the $80 for a MOMO.
