How stupid is this...
When I got off work yesterday, I noticed one of my tires was flat due to a nail in it. I put fix-a-flat into it, pumped it up and went to a tire shop where I lived. They told me I was screwed because of two things. One was I put fix-a-flat into it and the other was cause they didn't want to take the tire off the rim cause they were afraid they would damage the rim...
Can anyone give me some advice please?

Fix-a-flat does damage the inner part of your tires because it eats it from the inside. But you can still repair it....dumb@sses

hold on one sec.
i work at a shop and ill tell you it isn't worth the time or money for them to risk if something should happen to your rim while fixing a flat...we turn people away every now and then who just want us to mount and balance one tire, thats like $10 at the most, so think us getting $10 for 15 min. worth of work (because aftermarket rims are a pain) and chance scratching the rim def. NOT WORTH IT

Fix a flat is very flammable. But if you rinse the tire out...it's not a problem. I can understand them not wanting to slap your expensive rim on the machine and take the chance of owing you a new one.
I have always had good luck with sears. I guess because they have such deep pockets they don't seem to mind the risk. thats just a guess.

The rim excuse is crap, but as for the fix a flat prob that is reasonable. They need to take off the tire and give it a good cleaning before doing any repairs, fix a flat is just a pain thats all
