i want to change my interior from beige to black with blue trim. i was wondering if it is cheaper to get the whole thing painted at a body shop or to buy the jdm parts from honda and replace the beige with black ones.
You do realize that changing from beige to black is not a trivial task. For starters you have to replace everything that is cloth or carpet. The the sheer amount of trim within the car is going to take some work to remove and paint, and or simply replace. My thoughts are that it is not going to be as easy of a job as you think it is.

Find a totalled Civic with a black interior, then just take everything out of it. You might need to find more than one, but you should be able to piece it together with a little homework and effort searching.

dont paint, just get the parts, it'll look cleaner. i can tell you from experience that your dash alone is gonna be tons of work. not to mention you have to replace the cover on your passengers side airbag...id just get a whole new one as opposed to tampering with the cover. then your complete door panels, seat fabric, carpet, roof liner, console. a-pillars, rear side panels. yea just find a wrecked civic and buy the inside of it.

yeah i dyed most of my panels dark blue. the only places that scracth the most are the door sills becuase ppl keep stepping on it wen u dont have too!!!.. the rear deck dash and rear seat panels are fine becase u really dont touch them that much. it looks good to me. i would defintily trade for black interior if i had the chance. the hardest part to do is change the dash, all the other peices are very easily dissembled.. lol i took my entire car apart
hi, that is my current project.
what I do is remove all panels except carpet (gray and black goes).
nd I paint all panels using "Krylon fusion" black glossy. THat paint really stays on <pp> or polyprolene. Obviously, after you paint it, if you use a rather sharp matal to scratch it, it will still come off. But over all, I am pretty satisfactory. If you want to have leather black feeling, just apply one layer of black vinyl paint on.
Why I did I do that? because I got white civic, and white civic only have gray or beige as interior.

i was thinking of going to a rentacar, or sumthing that has stores at different cities, and rent a black civic coupe with black interior, take it home, swap interiors (since biege will go with black) and then return the car to one of their other locations....not sure if it would really work (doubt it)...but its a thought.
well, it will pretty much be illigal.
let's do things legally, you wn't want to get criminal record for a little thing like that.
obviously the rental place would notice the difference, unless you will be able to change the carpet, seats, even the little plastic around the set belt, and also seat belt (different color for different interior).
also, the black on oem civic is JET BLACK. Not exacly high class looking. If you are going to spend time removing the pieces, why not just paint them to glossy black or any other color you want? the paint I mentioned above will work, and it is the cheapest alternative. Otherwise, just take the pieces to paint shop ans they will use the paint like exterior of the car. Those paint will never fell off!
