does anyone know if the tinted or painted head/tail lights are legal in california or not?? i really like them but ive heard theyre illegal....

I've seen a lot of people who have their tailights tinted. As long as they have a red light, when you press the breaks. Then you should be okay. In my opinion you shouldnt get them tinted. But hey, if that's your taste, then go for it. If you look on ebay; theirs a lot of tint/covers for your rear lights. Good luck.

they are illegal even if you can see your brake light through it. they are only legal if you leave some parts of the taillight untinted and is still red.

actually its iligal period to mess with your tail lights but cops dont really hassle you for them unless there an *** i had mine tinted for about almost a year now and i havent been hassled for them.

Tinted lights aren't necessarily Illegal to have, the vehicle just needs to pass inspection. Because it's more of a safety issue. I know people that have blacked out headlights during the day and then take them off at night.

Call the department of transportation in your state. Every state is different. They can give you a difinitive answer.

Suggestion: If you're going to tint your taillights, go for the sticker/vinyl tint. If you decide you don't want it anymore, if you change your mind (which I do all the time) you can just rip it off.)
