Unhappy Non-correctable ticket?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to find out what other 7thgen civic owners would do in my situation. I was pulled over almost 2 months ago for tint and the cop checked under my hood. I didn't have a carb sticker on my header so he gave me a non-correctable ticket (crossed out the sign-off part of the corrections on the back of the ticket). He said I had to go to a BAR referee and see if I pass smog. The ticket was only for the header (warning on the tint).

Then I received a $360 ticket in the mail a week later. My court date is late January next year.

I went to the BAR referee with the header still in (because the cop said I could go in and see if I pass anyways, so that I could get it certified). Well, turns out, I do pass smog technically, except for the visual test (which resulted in no smog certification).

So then I buy a DC header with CARB sticker and pass the test. I've got my certification now. But I emailed the cop who pulled me over because I was confused as to whether this would work like a fix-it ticket (so that I wouldn't have to pay that massive $360 ticket). But he says that yes, I do have to pay the ticket on top of the correction.

Okay I'm a broke-*** college student and I'm not even in the car scene anymore (it was a high school thing at the time... too broke and busy now), so I'm gonna try to get my car back to stock... but anyways, what the hell can I do about the ticket?? The cop said the fine could not be lowered and I have to pay it by the court date... I dunno what to do other than put it on my credit card, even though I know I don't have any way of paying it off.

Any suggestions? Should I go in front of a judge or something? And if so, what the hell do I say (since I was clearly in the wrong in the beginning having a non-CARB header)?

Thanks for any input!

same **** happened to me, had to cough up 380. Sucks...good luck. The local judge will protect its own and take the cops side, not gonna get anything but maybe like 30 bucks for payin that day or some **** they did for me.

umm... thats ****ed up cuz it is a correctable ticket if you get it signed off, or should be, unless he thought it was a "catless header-pipe thing" i'd say yes, go see the judge, but the only problem is that you WILL have to pay the amount in advanced and they will refund you if the judge decides to drop/lower it. which agency gave you the ticket and which courthouse did it tell you to go to? i would say even if you are desperate enough, go to the police agency that gave the ticket to you an explain the situation in person. tell them you are broke and that the header you had was legit, but w/o carb sticker from before. anyways good luck to you and let me know if you have questio about how to proceed this matter, i'm with LA county superior courts.
