Almost Arrested
Last night a couple friends of mine and I were drving back from my friend's house after hitting his B*ng, doing a little partying, no alcohol, just the good ole sticky icky and some xan**, and was pulled over by the cops. I had a bowl on me, and stuffed it into the center console under some suff. My plain if this ever happendd had been to put it behind the thing that flips over the drink holders (if you have ab 04 sedan you know what I am talking about), where you would have to take the console apart to get to it. But there was a drink in it, and I barely had time to put the bowl where I did in my state. He walked up to the door and said that I had a broken stop light. I have had it for nearly two years, ever since I took out my rear deck. I forgot to unhook the damn light and it shattered when I pulled on it enough. I was lazy and never got it fixed, and the thing is the last few days I was thinking ot my self, if it was even in violation. Yesturday, I was eventhinking that I might ask a cop if it was LOL.
Anyways...
He hinted at a smell, and asked if there was anything like guns, knives, or anything else I wanted him to know about. He also said that they were looking for pounds of weed and guns. I told him that the only thing that he should know about is the knive that I have clipped in my pocket, which was a stainless steel spyderco endura with fully serrated edge. He then took me out of the car and patted me down. He then told me that the smell of weed gave him probable cause, and searched the car. As they were searching the car, they searched my two friends as well. One of my friends had some weed on him, but I could not hear what they said to him when they found it.
They finally found the pipe, which took them forever because I forgot to mention that when I was trying to find my wallet, I opened the center console. He walked back over to us, we were sitting on the curb, and said that we should have just told him that we had stuff on us. I told him that I did not know about my friends bud, and that I did not think that he should have know about the bowl because it would not have hurt him. He said that was BS and that I was lying to him. etc..etc.. So I told him, "Yes sir, I was trying to snake you, I was wrong and I appologize." He then said that we were all going to go home tonight, and two of us were getting citations.
One of the rookies also noticed that my tint is ilegal and asked me if it was. I said it was illegal, and he seemed so proud to have noticed. The main cop, or highest ranking officer, never even mentioned it until it was time to write up the citation.
I got a citation for the pipe and what my friend had on him, and he got the same. My one buddy was lucky and got nothing. I also got a fix it ticket for my tint and broken brake light, no ticket just a repair order. Th cop told me that it was going to be a $500 dollar fine, which he said could easily be reduced, that I probably would have to attend some drug classes, and that none of this would go on my record. i did some research and I found that this sounds pretty standard. I might get a couple months probation as well from what I read, but hopefully not supervised.
Overall I think i was pretty lucky, and could have easily gotten arrested, but I could have bypassed this ordeal with a simple light bulb.
Anythoughts on what I might get?

You all smoked it and then someone (maybe you) drove and ended up getting pulled over. The smell of burnt marijuana is a distinguishable smell, and probable cause to search a vehicle.
Consider yourself lucky the driver didnt get tested and arrested for DUI drugs.

Last week I stopped a guy for speeding and when I contacted him I could smell burnt marijuana coming from the interior. I pulled him out and told him what I smelled and asked him where it was. He told me it was in his pocket and there was a pipe in the compartment under the radio is his Corolla. He also said he just smoked a joint before driving.
The kicker is, his 3 year old son was sleeping in the back seat. In AZ thats automatic Aggravated DUI because of the small child.
He went to jail and was charged with 3 felonies and 2 misdemeanors.
