does any know if "legally" you have to keep your license plate on the front and rear bumper in New York?

this is what i've observed :

1. just about all cars have a license plate on the rear bumper

2. not all cars have space for a front license plate, and therefore do not have one on the front

3. most cars that have space for a front license plate will have one

4. some people keep the license plate on the dash instead of the front bumper.

can anyone clarify the laws in NY state?

I believe NY does require a plate in the front and the back. You might wanna post a question in your local forum and see what people there say.

i know for a fact it is a law in new york that you have a front license plate. I am looking for the law but cant find it. Call your local authorities and make sure but i am 99% sure its a law.

license plates front and back, and no covers(i got a civic cover and never been hassled-knock on wood but if the cop is a jerk you can get a ticket for a cover)
