Ahh crap - Ticket Q - CHP 55-405 Transition
Goddammit....
So i start daydreaming at 12:05 AM while going to Huntington Beach 91W-55N-405N, and while I'm almost at the I-5 transition I look at my speed, it's around 75 ish. I start thinking of all the work I have to do, and stop checking the looks around me... BAM, red lights, look at the speedo which is saying 85 but which might as well be sayign "Nice one... you are hosed, bend over."
Oh well. I was nice to the officer, followed Ernie's speeding ticket guidelines and he wrote me for 79 so it wasn't 15 over.
Question is, though, looking at the ticket, I see that he messed up on the date: he put Friday 12:10 PM on the time of infraction, and clearly it was about 12:10 AM on a saturday. I dont' really want to risk my nuts or driving record taking that to court, but on a written appeals statement would that hold any water? what about if I said "I'm guilty, but it looks like the officer may have given me an incorrecft description, etc..."
any advice? i'll probably jus pay bail and do traffic school.
BTW, how much is the fine gonna be on average...

the differences between day and night has a decent chance of making what the judge thinks.
im sure people have it in there heart that speeding around the time where traffic isnt so high can be somewhat reasonable. compared to afternoon where its traffic/rush hour...
speeding fines are usually $350 i believe? dont plead guilty, you have options... http://www.ticketassassin.com/fight.html of course, that is if your in CA
contest it with written declaration, clearify it was cited during am/night, request reduced fines and/or traffic school.
goodluck

if you have proof of being at work at that exact time, bring proof to the court that it was not you... credit card statement, recepits... blah blah blah
like if u went to lunch... just don't say anything on the ticket is not true... just say it looks all true...

I got a speeding ticket 3 weeks ago on the 101N at Kanan at 7:00am. CHP got me for 90+. Funny how he tags me as SUVs are passing me in the #1 lane.
Haven't received the courteousy notice yet. I checked online and my ticket is $255.00. http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org/traffic/index.asp?RT=EX click on "search ticket".

Think that you're invulnerable just because you're driving with the flow of traffic? Well, my answer to this is simple and was most eloquently described in a fishing joke. Cop pulls a guy over for speeding, whose defense was, I was just going with the flow of traffic. Cop's response... Ever go fishing? -- Yeah -- Ever catch ALL the fish? -- Catch my drift? The “I was going with the flow of traffic defense doesn't work. More on that later."
$255 is a lot. but here in CA, traffic violations are $351 MINIUM*
I will never live in CA, i went off road while running a four way stop, and came within 2 feet of hitting cop car, and only had to pay $170. I learned my lesson, and have not taken an "off road adventure" again. Are there actually less speeders because of the expensive tickets or are they just for the state to make more moeny, and feed rich politicians???
Why is CA so strict, tints, expensive tickets, etc...?
I would expect with weather like that you guys would be laid back.
Also with the flow of traffic thing, there is a catch 22, it is illegal to hold up traffic not to mention dangerous, at the same time it is illegal to go over speed limit!!
The best you can do it just get in the middle of a group of people or stay to the right going the speed limit.
That is one of the only problems i have with america, the damn speed limits, of course i would rather live here and drive slow than live in france where cops pull you over and tell you to go faster!!!
