WORK related

hey guys I got a quick question,

To make a long story short, basically a guy at work was hitting on my girlfriend asked her out to lunch and stuff (he is married too), when my gf asked him what the purpose of lunch is he wouldn't say he was saying I dunno I just asked....Now she wants to take a day off from work. She works once a week, and she wants to take a day off so she told her boss now the boss is getting pissed and might "fire" her over this. Is he allowed to do that? Can he fire her just for asking for a day off? She said its personal reasons, she wants a day off because she doesn't feel comfortable going back to the office. Let me know what you guys think. Anyone who knows a lawyer and asks I'd appreciated it. Thanks!

use periods!!!

is this right?........
you and your gf work together.
another guy hit on her and asked her to lunch.
she said no...but now wants a day off from work, her only day at work, so as not to be around him for a while so the whole situation can kinda settle down?
now her boss wants to fire her for calling in on her only day of work?

first...she should have just told the boss the situation in the first place. if she is uncomfortable in the office he should know about it and why. 2nd...well, he just asked her on a date..she shouldn't be uncomfortable, if anything he should be because he got rejected.

does she call in a lot? i mean, for her to call in once and then get threatened to be fired doesn't sound right.

she's never called in sick, or taken a day off. The guy is 30 years old and married, my gf is 18. Also a lot of times she ends up being alone at the front desk, its a real estate office. She doesn't want to be alone and the guy to approach her.

well she shouldn't call in and state personal reasons...she should have a talk with her boss and let him know whats going on. she has a right to work in a place where she feels comfortable. if this 30 year old guy is hitting on her and she makes it apparent she does know welcome his comments - its sexual harassment. if her job is on the line because of him...its his fault and the boss should take action with him not her.

same thing happened at my office the week before i started working here. only the girl welcomed the advances and they ended up having sex in the storage room...only they talked about it through company e-mails to each other and I.T. caught them hahahaha. sorry, just remined me of that.

i c....So if the boss fires her because of asking for the day off? What can she do? Next what if the boss doesn't do anything about it but pretty much makes her come to work or else she is fired? Does she have any rights then?

well honestly i don't know the exact laws or rules or whatever on firing people...but I mean think about it, sexual harrassment is illegal, right? and if she is being harrassed to a point that she feels she has to take her only work day off - it must be pretty bad. If the boss knows about the harrassment and allows it to continue its the boss' fault for not providing a safe work environment. however, if he doesn't know about the harrassment and she calls in and states personal reasons - i really don't think theres anything stopping him from firing her - she's not there to do the job - he doesn't have to employ her. so..

call in for personal reasons - might get fired

talk to boss about the harrassment and ask for the day b/c its stressing - probably wont get fired (if she does, read solution below)

call in b/c harrassment continues(boss does nothing after he knows about it) - sue the boss and take the company! or settle out!!
