BS "Reckless Driving" ticket. How can i fight?

Today i was coming home. I live in a rather large sub-division, that has their own police that patrol the area. I was heading across a small bridge and my brother was in his car traveling in the opp direction. As he passed me, i reved at him. I was obeying the speed limit! I was going 30! As soon as i turned off the bridge onto my road, i saw a patrol car, lights and all, hauling *** after me! He writes me a ticket that states: "Reckless Driving: without due caution and circumspection and at a speed or in a manner so as to endanger persons & property. (G.S. 20-140(6))"

WTF!? I was going the speed limit! I reved! Who the hell was i endangering!?

I can't have any more points on my insurance! I have to fight this!! What can i do!? Monday morning, i'm going to look for a lawyer.

There is no evidence, it's all here-say. His word against mine. How do i get the upper hand?

Also to add. I've had problems with this particular officer before. I had a domestic disturbance at my house once and this officer was involved. IMO, he was out to get me today.

Search online for the particular statute and read the entire thing. It may include something that covers actions such as revving your engine and includes it in that statute for reckless driving. As far as the evidence is concerned, he may have been sitting right out of site and heard you. If he is fact targeting you and writing false tickets then thats something you should take up with one of his supervisors, but do it in a polite and respectful way.

Dont lie however like someone else suggested, you'll just dig a deeper hole.

^^^ lol,

but no if you are serious go to the lawyer and ask for legal advise - for 500 and DIU school and a couple of community service hours - i'm sure you'll be fine or you can talk to a soliciter at the court house and see what they gotta say - i got the same ticket and i got out of it with 300 dollar fine and 40 hours of community service - no points. sucks to loose money for something i didn't do but whatever it takes for me to keep my license - is fine.

if you attend traffic school for that traffic violation, the point will be off ur record and insurance wont go up. here in california, u can only goto traffic school per ticket every 18 months. check your local traffic dept cause it varies.

how hard did u rev it anyways? if its not like redline or above 5k rpm, just say ur bad at driving manual.

Ha its funny after i had changed my clutch and flywheel I was driving down the road, I whacked the throttle to show my buddy the huge difference. A cop flew out of nowhere and gave me the blue light special. I was so pissed. I was going the speed limit he wrote me a warning for a 50 in a 35. I was putting along. He said My car was so souped up I probably didnt even no I was speeding. lol a stock civic with a flywheel wow so fast. I hate MOST cops now, I never used to but they are so good at bending the truth to whatever suits them. Some are cool though.

LOL. Just say it's your first time driving stick, and you're a clutch monkey and couldn't find the gear and reved up by accident. That's a serious B.S. charge, but still, why were you revving? You know there is a horn for getting someone's attention, right?

the catch here is that i have to get out of this without getting ANY insurance points! I'm maxed out on insurance points----> reason why i sold the civic

I had a private meeting with my lawyer, and i feel good about this now, i'm 90% sure i can get out of this.

so you dont have your civic anymore?? I would say i couldn't drive and that if you had intentions of endangering people you would have been going 100 mph . also say that the cop has a grudge and he is just picking on you

12 pts in california i dont think they would ever give you your license back. IN CA reckless driving is automatic 2 points.

I dunno if this still matters, but why couldnt you say that you went to shift gears and you missed whatever gear you were shifting to....it happens once in a while with me, whenever I'm not really paying attention. I dont see at all how they could get you for that...

i hate this stuff. Just tell the court your foot slipped. I can't see how a cop would get away with wreckless driving charge unless he lies.
